On Incubator there are probably many users who don't understand English, or with much difficulty. Therefore translations are important. Before October 2007 there were as well as no translations. On this page, you can see an overview of what needs to be translated.

The following pages are translatable. They are somewhat sorted on importance.
- Main Page - see the edit form for instructions.
- MediaWiki:Sidebar-mainpage-url/"language" - this should be created if you translate Main Page, to change the link in the sidebar.

There is a special usergroup for translating messages in the MediaWiki namespace: translator. "we make someone a translator if they just ask it & show that they are not new to Wikimedia (e.g. link to a main account)".
One place for requests is here.
[edit] Version
The template {{translations}} has a parameter "version". This indicates how up-to-date the version is. If you're reading a translation, compare the version with the version of the English page. For example, if the translation is at "1.0" while the English page is at "3.0", then you are reading a very outdated version.

[edit] Translation priorities
Based on Transcom's priority list, but we need a different one, because for Incubator it's more important to have translations into languages which are spoken as second language of as much small languages without a WMF project as possible.
- Source language
- English
- Priority level 1
- French (for indigenous languages from Africa)
- Spanish (for indigenous languages from South America)
- Portuguese (for indigenous languages from South America)
- Priority level 2
- Turkish (we seem to receive a lot of Turkish-related languages)
- Russian (for indigenous languages in Russia Federation and "post soviet" states)
- Priority level 3
- Chinese (other relatively big language)
- German (other relatively big language)
- Priority level 4 —
we recommend to translate only into these language, if you really want to keep them up-to-date
- Languages [not mentioned above, of course] which
- have a Wikimedia project and
- are used as second language of a small language (i.e. better understood than English)
- Languages [not mentioned above, of course] which
- Priority level 5 — please do not translate into these languages because that's more work to update
