From Wikimedia Incubator
- What is Wikimedia Incubator, this site?
- This is the Wikimedia Incubator, where potential Wikimedia project wikis like a new language Wikipedia, Wikinews, Wikiquote or Wiktionary can be arranged, written, tested and proven worthy of being hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation.
- Be aware starting a test wiki here doesn't mean it will later be automatically accepted by Wikimedia; you need it to be approved first. See Requests for new languages and Proposals for new projects for more information.
How to use this wiki
If you're going to create test pages for a new language wiki of an existing project like Wikipedia, please add the language code of the wiki to all pages: use ISO 639-1 if it matches exactly, otherwise ISO 639-2, otherwise ISO 639-3 (look into article ISO 639); if no code can be found, please open your test project on the Incubator Plus.
Please respect the naming conventions for the test language, to help future migrations of pages to an actual wiki project. All of your test pages (including templates and categories) need to be named uniquely (by using a prefix — at least the language code; see above) and consistently.
You may not start a test for a new project, only tests for languages of existing projects are allowed.
You can find more information on Help:Contents.
