Help:Starting a new test language
From Wikimedia Incubator
The following table can you follow if you want to create a new version of a Wikimedia project.
If you have suggestions or if you find it not usefriendly, please say it on the talk page.
| Does the project you want to start already has a project by the WMF? (search | search) | ||
| NO So you start a new Wikipedia. Has the language a valid language code? |
YES Please discuss the new project at the existing projects and search for contributors for the new project. |
|
| NO Sorry but you can not make a test project here. You can make it on Incubator Plus, but note that it will not be approved by the Wikimedia Foundation until you have a valid ISO code. |
YES You will need enough contributors to ensure your project will not be inactive. If so, you can make a request at Meta. |
If you have enough contributors found, make a request at Meta. |
| Everything is fine, you can start your test project. Try to find the prefix. |
||
|
Do the following:
|
||
| While you are contributing to the test language, you need to start translating the interface of this language. Do this on Betawiki. | While you are contributing to the test language, it is a good idea to translate this language further on Betawiki. | |
| When your test language has 50, and you are an active contributor, you may apply for test-adminship. | ||
| The Language subcommittee will approve the test language if the test language meets all the requirements (see m:WM:LPP) | ||
| If approved, the language subcommittee will submit a bug request at Bugzilla. Then it is only waiting on the developers to create the site! | ||
| If your site is created, don't start to edit! Please wait until someone has moved the pages from Incubator to the new site. | ||
