Hi, I'd like to request for an edittools box for Livonian, based on a (I presume) Vietnamese box (at MediaWiki:Edittools/vi) it should looks like this:
Then again if something is off there – feel free to correct. I closed the only div so it should be OK, I think. Also it would be great if it appeared on Livonian incubator automatically – without the dropdown (I'm not sure if such configuration is available though.) This way there wouldn't be a need to specifically direct potential editors to click on the dropdown. Neitrāls vārds (talk) 20:51, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Tomoi, I'm not sure if you've had bad experiences/disputes with Veps in this regard but I thought Liv. alphabet is pretty solid, OK, maybe I rushed ahead of time a little, to be honest I wasn't sure if I would get any response at all. Time to come up with some authoritative references on my part, I guess... Neitrāls vārds (talk) 21:41, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Request for comment on Commons: Should Wikimedia support MP4 video?
I apologize for this message being only in English. Please translate it if needed to help your community.
The Wikimedia Foundation's multimedia team seeks community guidance on a proposal to support the MP4 video format. This digital video standard is used widely around the world to record, edit and watch videos on mobile phones, desktop computers and home video devices. It is also known as H.264/MPEG-4 or AVC.
Supporting the MP4 format would make it much easier for our users to view and contribute video on Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects -- and video files could be offered in dual formats on our sites, so we could continue to support current open formats (WebM and Ogg Theora).
However, MP4 is a patent-encumbered format, and using a proprietary format would be a departure from our current practice of only supporting open formats on our sites -- even though the licenses appear to have acceptable legal terms, with only a small fee required.
We would appreciate your guidance on whether or not to support MP4. Our Request for Comments presents views both in favor and against MP4 support, based on opinions we’ve heard in our discussions with community and team members.
All users are welcome to participate, whether you are active on Commons, Wikipedia, other Wikimedia project -- or any site that uses content from our free media repository.
You are also welcome to join tomorrow's Office hours chat on IRC, this Thursday, January 16, at 19:00 UTC, if you would like to discuss this project with our team and other community members.
I can't remember exactly who requested this before, but the "show" and "hide" links for the dynamic navigation bars (Special:RecentChanges has got one at the top) are now translatable. Translators: Please help by going to MediaWiki:DynamicNavigation.js and adding your translation there. If you can't translate it on that page, or don't want to, please feel free to put your translation here and someone will copy it over. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 13:31, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK, well, please add my translation. Thanks in advance.
Rather than translating all that here, couldn't barhide and barshow just be set to mw.message('hidetoc').text() + " ▲" and mw.message('showtoc').text() + " ▼"? --Yair rand (talk) 07:39, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In theory, you can, but in practice I would prefer putting the messages into the WikimediaIncubator extension and putting those messages into ResourceLoader. One thing though, your implementation will not work for RTL languages, which was why I decided to keep it as part of the string. --Hydriz (talk) 08:32, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks MF-W{a, b} for the reply , I am focus now on the the Wikitionary for our native language. I don't know which format to use in creating articles for Wiktionary. Where do I start? and which template is important for starting a Wiktionary ? --Kixzer (talk) 17:38, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you can start by looking at the entries in existing Wiktionary editions for inspiration. In the beginning you probably don't need many templates, but you can just write text directly. Later when already a number of articles have been created, templates can be created for recurring elements; or for structures on which the editors (i.e. you + hopefully other users) agreed. --MF-W{a, b}22:58, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I need help to add templates to the kabyle wiktionary. I took some templates of the French wiktionary but when I try to integrate them into an article, I get a "script error". Having very little knowledge of programming in Mediawiki, I do not understand where the problem is. Here, for example one of the templates that I have a problem:
Sorry, I had not seen that you already copied some modules. In addition to those, I have now also copied Module:Wt/kab/tutlayin/data, but it still doesn't work. As a next step you could maybe localize the categories in the module (under "b.fait_categorie_contenu") and then one can see what to do then. --MF-W{a, b}23:30, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Time for Hurrah !!!....Our Project has 520 pages: quotes of world renowned personalities, on different topics, proverbs from different languages. It is a mature project and if it is normalised it will be on 40th position in all wikiquotes community. Please check: [3]
--Khalid Mahmood (talk) 19:42, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Great achievement Mr Khalid. It is nice to be at 40th position with 520 pages but it is important to be normalised.--کیسری (talk) 07:48, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
With a best collection of quotes, W. Punjabi quotes deserves to be among best wikiquotes communities. So it should be normalized as soon as possible.--سیانف (talk) 16:06, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ebe123, Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. Well I think we are in the best position now. I would like to improve the pages and correct if there is something wrong. talk I acted upon your advice. --Khalid Mahmood (talk) 09:26, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings. I'm a test-admin of Cantonese Wiktionary and I have a huge favour to ask: Every time I put a few templates on the same line, the second template and all templates after it automatically move to a new line while I want them to stay on the same line. I've tried both & n b s p ; and & # 8 2 0 9 ;, but even the & n b s p ; and & # 8 2 0 9 ; themselves moved to a new line. Can anyone help me solve this problem, please? Big time! 【粵語文學大使殘陽孤侠】粵維辭典起錨!17:30, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Most one-character pages under Category:Wt/yue, like攗 and 咁, have this problem. In some of them, the second template just lost a bit of its formats. In some others, the second template gets kicked to the second line while I want them to stey on the same line. 【粵語文學大使殘陽孤侠】粵維辭典起錨!15:06, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, maybe it's caused by the fact that the transcluded part of templates like Template:Wt/yue/新法蘭西 and Template:Wt/yue/粵拼 ends with newlines and categories, like this:
<end of if-construct>
'''</big></big>
[[Category:Wt/yue/新法蘭西索引/{{{1}}}]]
If it complies with Wikipedia's license (en:WP:LICENSE), you can upload it on Wikimedia Commons (and then use it also on Incubator). But you can also copy just the text of the article into an actual Wikipedia article (regardless of whether you mean an existing Wikipedia or a test-wiki on Incubator) so that it enriches Wikipedia's content and can be improved by others. --MF-W{a, b}15:23, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, more than just one contributor is necessary. If there is just one, the project would become inactive if he stops. --MF-W{a, b}22:26, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In 2008, constantly adding users are doing this ever since. There are similar problems in many projects. vèneto wiktionary now is 823 pages. Users noting but this project is opened.vèneto wiktionary has not active users but this project is opened.I do not understand you.--Marmase (talk) 16:05, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are you looking to recruit more contributors to your project?
We are offering to design and print physical paper leaflets to be distributed at Wikimania 2014 for all projects that apply.

I personally dislike it (why can't one just link to user pages manually), but imported it from Meta now (the Meta version doesn't require the use of tons of other templates and modules). --MF-W{a, b}19:24, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The page history looks confusing: the first revision is a reversion. It seems that you imported the full history from Meta but that a Meta user imported an incomplete history from Wikipedia. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:54, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Templates on incubated Wikis
Hi, I'm an editor involved in Wikiproject Medicine's Translation Taskforce, and we are translating to over 100 different languages. Much of our content is being translated to Wikis here on the incubator. To get the translations up and running we need a few templates and modules to be able to cite properly, and we also try to use our infobox when possible.
Is there any way to import/invoke these on a specific incubated wiki?
Hi Dear administrators.....access manage users wp: azb all been completely need for the manager to deal with problems in error pages wp: azb there,So I am requesting administrative privileges. Thanks a lot--Amir a57(دانیشیق)06:05, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have a problem translating my native language, Laiholh (Lai language) (cnh-639-3). I try to translate but it won't work. I also couldn't find on the Translatewiki.net panel. I don't know what the problem is. It would be great if I find out way to contribute. Thank you. --Salai Rungtoi (talk) 16:21, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
When I am editing or contributing articles, I face problems with Ṭ or ṭ word. I use this letter frequently but I have to go to Special characters. I want to have Ṭ or ṭ key when I'm typing in my keyboard which would be a lot easier when I type. When I am using Word, I use a special font for the letter so I don't have problem. But in Wiki page, I have to go to characters every time when I type. --Salai Rungtoi (talk) 19:55, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you can set up your keyboard to a different layout which supports ṭ? I don't know of any other solution except using the Special characters provided by the wiki software. --MF-W{a, b}22:15, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Currently Hungarian and Japanese Wikivoyage (in Incubator) is not active, and data in Wikitravel does not imports here, as Incubator:Wikivoyage import says. I think there may be 2 methods to solve this problem even if we can neither export pages nor uses API in Wikitravel:
Alternatively, only copy latest version of Wikitravel pages to Incubator, And put something like en:Template:Text release in talk page. (that can also be done manually)
This list shows users who have set the "test wiki preference" in Special:Preferences to Wp/khw. It seems like nobody has done so. However, nobody needs to do so, everyone can contribute nevertheless. --MF-W{a, b}15:55, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I added it to the request page on Meta. In order to be able to be used in the project-specific logos on Incubator however, it needs to have the proper size of 135px. --MF-W{a, b}17:40, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's not gonna be approved if we have only 1-3 active contributors on Incubator. Thus I'm asking, is it ok to advertise this on the Finnish Wikipedia's village pump to get more (possible interested) editors here? I'm sure many Finnish editors would edit WV when it's on own domain, but many are not so interested to work with this on Incubator. Also, which is more important to get approved: many editors or many pages? As I've seen some users just mass creating almost useless pages here. --Stryn (talk) 19:21, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is certainly ok. We have no restriction at all about whether you may advertise Incubator test-projects.
My language is not in the list of languages and test wiki languages
My language is not in the list of languages and test wiki languages but there is a test wiki for it https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/hac
The problem is that I can't create a new article becuase my test wiki language is not chosen
Gorani is not in the list of languages as there are not enough translations at translatewiki: in Gorani. If enough messages in MediaWiki are translated, then it will appear. Even if it is not in the list of languages, you can still select it for your test-wiki. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 17:02, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, instead of having MerlIwBot crawl all over incubator to synchronize the explicit interwikilinks with Wikidata records, wouldn't it be better to have a module that a template might pass a Q record number to, and receives the Wikidata information necessary to dynamically create an explicit interwikilinks list? --Mkratz (talk) 01:45, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Writing direction and language name are wrong (Wp/aeb)
In Tunisian test wiki https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/aeb It's clear (from the first page) that we are using Latin script, so writing direction would be LTR.. Today, I visited the test wiki and I found that the writing direction become RTL with Eastern Arabic numerals.
For language name, the wrong name is زَوُن and the right name is Tounsi. (I don't know what's the source of the problem)
Thanks if need consensus, i create consensus and get users . this is Rtl project - now users add this code to all articles body created - if we create this mediawiki user not need to add code to article body - thanks --فلورانس (talk) 02:09, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Is wy/eu ready?
Hello! As a way of expanding content on wy/eu we have been discussing the creation of contents in eu:wp Community. We also have this web with easily accesible content published under cc-by-sa so we can add lots of content. But the main problem is that working on Incubator makes more difficult the creation of templates and code we would need to make wikivoyage a great place to encourage more people to edit. So, what could we make to make a definitive version? -Theklan (talk) 22:23, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There should be at least 3 regular editors for at least some months (before December 2014, the last activity was in April 2013). --MF-W{a, b}06:04, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
