Hi,

According Wikimedia policy, these 469 most-used interface messages need to be translated into Jamaican before the project can become eligible for approval.

So far, there are still 444 untranslated messages.

To translate those system messages, simply follow these steps. --Jose77 08:26, 14 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, can't help. Check my revised user page. I'm trying to figure out what to do myself. --Mkratz 20:43, 14 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Template:Wp/brh/CURRENTDAYNAMEI

[edit source]

Hi,

Thank you for fixing {{Wp/brh/CURRENTDAYNAMEI}} and {{Wp/brh/CURRENTMONTHNAMEI}}. There seems to be a problem with CURRENTDAYNAMEI as I had copied it from a language which i myself did not understand. I did not understand which number stands for which day. I am writing here the names of the days in Brahui language with their English equivalents. I request you to fix the template if it still has error.

Duşambe = Monday
Sişambe = Tuesday
Cárşambe = Wednesday
Pancşambe = Thursday
Jummá = Friday
Aval Afta = Saturday
Yakşambe = Sunday

Regards, --Imdadb 19:29, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

No problem, Done
In such a case, you may look for other-language versions, using a search term w/o prefix, such as "Template:CURRENTDAYNAMEI" --Mkratz 19:48, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Now it shows the correct day according to UTC. Thank you so much. Resolving the matter of showing UTC+5 instead of UTC on this particular test is another story. But later. And, thank you for the search tip, I know it is going to help me in many ways. Regards, --Imdadb 19:56, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't see how that can be done. You can shift the hours using {{#expr:({{CURRENTHOUR}} + 5) mod 24}} which yields 23 (with UTC being 18:20 right now), but there is no {{CURRENTMIN}} to build a normal time info with.
Anyway, clock/calendars suffer the same problem than {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}: They don't update automatically but must be refreshed manually. My template {{PurgeButton}} provides a Template:Wp/jam/PurgeButton button. --Mkratz 20:42, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I had to search here and there a lot before i could find purge template and alter it for use in our wiki. It is really time consuming and frustrating sometimes for novices while resolving even minor issues. I wish some of us unite to simplify things and place them at some appropriate place for new comers. It really feels like reinventing the wheel sometimes. Anyhow, best of luck always. Regards, --Imdadb 21:12, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
That's a derivate of Template:Purge. I thought that, as this link leads nowhere else, but performs a function on the current page, a button-like appearance would be more appropriate. --Mkratz 22:18, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Answer to all three: I can understand jamaican patois a little, but I speak none of these languages, so I can make only few comments about content. They're all very nice, and definitely beyond the dictionary phase, but have no contributors, as you noted correctly on Talk:Wp/jam/Mien Piej. I've given Wp/jam a 1500-edits makeover last year and have emailed jamaican educational and government institutions for help, but no reaction. I don't know any Jamaicans personally. I'm looking for ideas what to do. Perhaps talk to their consul here?-- Mkratz 15:48, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
