Ready to request at Meta?[edit source]

It looks that you are actively contributing Wt/kbd but it doesn't have a RFL at Meta-Wiki, I wonder if you have time to make an official request or not. Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 02:56, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your suggestion. What is a MetaWiki RFL and why do we need it? Until March 3rd, there was a note on the WikiMedia headpage that we might soon get our own Wiktionary site, but then it was suddenly removed in favour of other languages... Unfortunately, our activity was considered to be insufficient for some reason... Our status at https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wt/kbd is "This test wiki is open or verified to be eligible". --Rhdkabardian (talk) 04:53, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have attempted to submit a Request for New Language. I have no idea how correct it is... Hopefully it will be accepted...))Rhdkabardian (talk) 05:23, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You did it correctly, there is no problem with it. Though there was also no urgency to create it, when the approval would be around the corner, it could still be created, but it also does no harm. --MF-W {a, b} 14:23, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Mr. Warburg! Thank you, as always. You are always so very helpful and you assistance is always very greatly appreciated!))--Rhdkabardian (talk) 14:59, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Mr Warburg! I think we are about as ready to request at Meta as we will ever be. Thank you once again for your support!!!)) --Rhdkabardian (talk) 11:49, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wiktionary index pages[edit source]

Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that I'll be moving practically all index pages (Special:Prefixindex/Wt/kbd/index:) for the Kabardian Wiktionary – they all have the prefix twice, which is not necessary and can cause trouble down the road when the Wiktionary gets its own domain. So they will move from the form Wt/kbd/Index:Wt/kbd/Something to Wt/kbd/Index:Something. I will also fix all the links within those pages so they point to the correct pages. You don't need to do anything about this, only remember to only use the prefix once (before "Index:") in the future. :-) Oh, and if any problems arise from this, please let me know, and I'll fix them. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jon Harald Søby (discussioncontribs) 10:42, 10 April 2022 (UTC).[reply]

Thank you for your kind assistance. Please let me know if I can be of help in any way!))--Rhdkabardian (talk) 12:19, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Core messages translation[edit source]

Dear Rhdkabardian, good to see you. I am planning to submit Wt/kbd for approval as a new language version of Wiktionary. Your project has been doing well in the last 6 months, several contributors are active, and have a fair amount of headings. However, for approval, a translation of the core message used in Wikimedia is required. It is done separately on the translation wiki. Since this is a different place from the Wikimedia wikis, you need to create a separate account, but the translations there are used and reflected in Wikimedia wikis. You can check the current statistics on this page and access the translation wiki via that link. Could you please translate the core messages(=Most important messages)? Once that is done, I can begin the process for approval. I look forward to your cooperation :) --Sotiale (talk) 13:59, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We will soon start a review of core messages (approximately 3500). The current translations have numerous misspellings and grammatical and usage errors. We will attempt to fix them as soon as possible. We sincerely appreciate your willingness to begin the approval process.))--Rhdkabardian (talk) 17:27, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. It is "Most important messages" that must be localized. I think you probably meant "MediaWiki core messages". About MediaWiki core messages, not all of these need to be translated, but it would be nice. For reference, these are the messages currently used on Kabardian Wikipedia(kbdwiki). Any changes you make will be applied to Kabardian Wikipedia in a few days. --Sotiale (talk) 13:04, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please let me know when the localization is done. Thank you for your cooperation :D --Sotiale (talk) 13:07, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, Sotiale. We will translate the 555 items in "Most Important Messages" as quickly as possible and get back to you soon as we can.))--Rhdkabardian (talk) 14:04, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We are ready to start entering the 555 most important messages. We have created an ID (RHDtranslate) and translated 21 sample messages. Since then, we seem to be stuck in "Get Permission", in spite of the fact that the messages say that permission will soon be granted. Is there anyway this can be accelerated? --Rhdkabardian (talk) 14:56, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We now have access and have entered/corrected the first 85 messages. Thank you for your assistance. We are continuing our work.))--Rhdkabardian (talk) 05:25, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We have translated and entered all but 52 of the approximately 550 most important messages. We hope to complete the translation soon after the holidays. Thank you for your patience and best wishes for the upcoming holidays!Rhdkabardian (talk) 10:08, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The first translations have started to appear in the Kabardian Wiktionary. For the most part, they look great. We are reviewing them now. The most glaring error appears to be in the "edit .. view source" line, where we seem to have an extra field absent in other (English, Russian) versions, sth like "edit text". This is still translated incorrectly as "гъэтэрэзын" (a word from dialects, not the literary language, and means to use skillfully, such as tools), although this word appears NOWHERE in what we have translated so far. This should either be removed, as in other messages, or replaced by "зэгъэзэхуэжын", as elsewhere. Is there any possibility of our directly contacting the person actually making the changes so as to accelerate the process? There are also some issues with date formats...Rhdkabardian (talk) 08:27, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I checked this today as I was not getting a ping. Could you please elaborate a bit more if possible? ex. in en:wikt:translate, I can see Read, Edit, History(or View history). If translatewiki has that message, you can edit it. And people who have done translations in the past can check them out in the history like this link. However, since it was so long ago, it is unknown whether they will be active. Also, if you explain what the date formats are, there is a possibility that it can be reflected after creating the wiki if it is technical. --Sotiale (talk) 12:19, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just below "Add languages" there is the edit line
Read Edit this page [alt-shift-v] Edit Source [alt-shift-e] History [alt-shift-h]
"Edit this page [alt-shift-v]" should read: "‎мы напэкӀуэцӀыр зэгъэзэхуэжын"
NOT: гъэтэрэзын
--Rhdkabardian (talk) 12:51, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The message you mentioned appears to be translated by you on translatewiki. Currently, the translation rate is about 90%, can you raise it to about 98%? I would like to start the approval process for Wt/kbd, but the core message translation rate is low, so I can't start it. --Sotiale (talk) 12:23, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We are doing our best. Our problem is that the Kabardian computer language is Russian. We are trying to overcome this difficulty. IT as a subject that is taught exclusively in Russian here...((--Rhdkabardian (talk) 12:50, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We have now entered all but six of the Core Messages (an additional 21 messages). You should have the last 6 very soon. There are a number of "Outdated Messages" which, as I understand, are no longer used and do not need to be edited or retranslated. Is my understanding correct? Hopefully, this will help you move our project along!))
As far as "гъэтэрэзын" - edit text, as opposed to edit code, this seems to be a field that ONLY WE HAVE and we would like to get rid of, just like everybody else. I wonder where it came from...??)) Rhdkabardian (talk) 09:58, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It has come to our attention that, since OUTDATED messages are counted as UNTRANSLATED and there are 27 of them, we can NEVER reach 98%. The maximum possible is apparently 95%, and we are now at 94... Since only 6 miessages remain to be translated, what do you suggest we should do to remedy the situation...??? Rhdkabardian (talk) 12:23, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ALL MESSAGES OTHER THAN THOSE MARKED OUTDATED HAVE BEEN TRANSLATED...)) Rhdkabardian (talk) 17:39, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Bashkir and other entries to Wt/kbd[edit source]

Hello. I'd like to add some entries in the languages other than Kabardian into Wt/kbd. What would you call the Bashkort (aka Bashkir) language in Kabardian? Башкырыбзэ? Башкъыртыбзэ? Any other form?, Regards, Comp1089 (talk) 13:07, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Enter the word "бармаҡ" and then open the article "Iэпхъуамбэ". Then open ՞нэгъуэщI бзэхэр" just below Russian. It contains the code necessary to add Baskir. You can look at the code if you enter "кодыр зэгъэзэхужын". You can also enter the word "баш" and then select "щхьэ" to see a fully filled out version. Please ask if you have any questions.--Rhdkabardian (talk) 16:25, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Right now, whoever is doing the "add languages" is not doing a very good job. They are constantly confusing the Kabardian literary language (kbd) with the Adyghean literary language (ady). These are not DIALECTS, but in may ways are as different as Italian and Spanish. Someone keeps refering to the Adyghe dialect (doesn't exist), marking it as kbd, and then giving examples in ady. Adyghe is a common name for Kabardians (адыгэбзэ) and Adygheans (адыгабзэ) (Notice э/а), but the language involved should be identified correctly. This doesn't look very good...(( Rhdkabardian (talk) 11:16, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any purpose in creating a special Wt/kbd/бармаҡ. It contains NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION and replicates the information already in the entry Wt/kbd/Iэпхъуамбэ. Let's not clutter up the index with extraneous entries!!)) Rhdkabardian (talk) 10:13, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of start of Wt/kbd approval process[edit source]

Hi Rhdkabardian. The approval process you've been waiting for has begun. The language committee will discuss the project's sustainability and content before deciding whether or not to approve it. I believe that this project meets the conditions sufficient for approval and I expect good results. I wish you good results. I will notify you again when there is any decision. In the meantime, I recommend that you review with your community members whether the settings in the box on this page are appropriate. Thank you! --Sotiale (talk) 12:19, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the WONDERFUL NEWS! We have been waiting for this notice for several years!)) Hopefully, we will be successful!)) Rhdkabardian (talk) 12:41, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You mention that we should check that the settings in the box on this page are appropriate. Are then any specific settings we should pay special attention to that are critical for approval? Thank you in advance for your advice! Rhdkabardian (talk) 17:05, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I mentioned the setting is to preview it now, so that if approval is granted, the setting will take effect right away without any delay. If the settings are wrong, it is because a problem occurs that a new wiki is created with the wrong settings, and if this is found before wiki creation, creation is delayed, so I ask for confirmation in advance. This has nothing to do with the approval process :) Discussion of approval has been very positive. I believe there will be final approval soon. --Sotiale (talk) 12:22, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Notification is late. Your project has already been approved by langcom and is currently awaiting wiki creation. After this wiki creation, import work will be done, and your activity here will be stopped after that. Because you can just edit it in your new project. Congratulation! --Sotiale (talk) 05:49, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we are all looking forward to working on our own Википсалъалъэ site and nut on the incubator!
We thank you for your kind assistance and cooperation!)) Rhdkabardian (talk) 08:59, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
