Page appearance

  • {{policy}} should not be on top of the discusion page, at least move it under «Introduction» heading
  • Please move «Introduction» section into a subpage (more convenient and will save some server space)
  • Please mention somewhere on the page what Incubator Plus is (I had to google it to find out)

  • Not needed I think, but feel free if you want to change it. By the way, it is the same as at Incubator:Administrators
  • This hasn't any effect on the server space. It happens much.
  • I will do that.

Well, the part «You may edit it, but please discuss major changes on the talk page first» (where «edit it» = «edit this page», since the notice is on top) clearly contradicts with the meaning «edit freely to leave your comment about requests below»
As for the server space... each edit, however small, creates a whole new version of the page. If the 1st part of the page (up to ==Requests==) could to replaced with {{/Header}}, then each version would take approx. 1500 bytes less. I agree it's not much, but it's still something. It's just a common practice to replace mostly unchangeable sections on discussion pages with a subpage transclusion

But it could be that it saves some server space if we leave it on this page. I don't know. Please take a look at w:Wikipedia:Don't worry about performance.
And, ok, i've moved the {{policy}} note. SPQRobin 15:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lingwa de planeta Wiktionary

[edit source]

Hello, I recently stumbled across a project on the incubator, it is a Wiktionary project for a constructed language without a real ISO code, the English Wikipedia has an article for Lingwa de planeta, but lists no ISO code and a search at SIL for the code lpl turned up no results[1], I am not sure weather or not the project should be nominated for deletion. woops, my bad, looks as though this has already been listed, I must have overlooked it when I was searching for it. Abrahamic Faiths (talk) 23:53, 10 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Add a new request

[edit source]

I just added a link to facilitate the submitting of new requests. It creates a new section at the bottom of the "Requests" section (/subpage), but unfortunately doesn't use a level-three (===) heading. I don't suppose there's a way of telling Special:NewSection what level to make the new section…? So, is this not worth doing, after all? - dcljr (talk) 01:13, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Why for deletion?

[edit source]

Cannot they be moved to Incubator Plus 2.0? --Jon Gua (talk) 07:31, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

DiscussionTools

[edit source]

The DiscussionTools extension has been rolled out for a couple of years, and it appears to be quite successful.

It has the excellent "Subscribe to topic" feature. It would be useful for watching specific requests.

Unfortunately, it cannot actually be used here because it only works on headings that are created with two equal signs (==). Currently, every request on this page is done using headings with three equal signs (===). That's because they are all under the "== Requests ==" heading, which has two equal signs itself.

I propose:

The final situation will allow:

  • Subscribing to sections.
  • Not seeing a wall of text with the deletion policy :)
  • Using the standard way to add a section instead of looking for a special button somewhere in the middle of the page.
  • Avoiding the odd state of pressing the "Add a new request" on one page, and adding content to another page.

Any objections?

Tagging some administrators, feel free tag other people: @MF-Warburg, @Jon Harald Søby, @Iohanen. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 15:37, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

No objections at all, looks like a good idea. As an Administrator it may get hard keep track of those requests and this extension practically solves that. It also benefits members that want to keep track of the discussion over the deletion of a certain project (most certainly those who are contributing to it). I also think that renaming the Requests page Incubator:Requests for deletions is the best idea, as is renaming the Requests for deletions as Incubator:Deletion policy, as it is in Meta ;)
