Welcome to Wikimedia Incubator!

At the right there are some important links, and here are some tips and info:

  • If you haven't created a user page yet, please create one with for example Babel templates on it.
  • You can select your interface language in your preferences.
  • If you make articles, templates or categories, don't forget to add a prefix!
  • If your knowledge of English is good, you can help with translating pages to other languages you know, so more people can understand them!
  • If you want to translate the interface, please go to Translatewiki.net and follow their instructions.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them on Incubator:Community Portal.

Hi! Do you speak Kanuri? Caro de Segeda (talk) 10:14, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes, please, let me know what you need and I will try to help you to the best of my knowledge. I am not an expert but I can create simple templates. Caro de Segeda (talk) 15:53, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

i like to know if we can creat data box while creating artcles in incubeto Umargana1 (talk) 09:22, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please, check Wp/kr/Lionel Andrès Messi Caro de Segeda (talk) 09:25, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
yes thats what am talking about pls can u teach me how to do so Umargana1 (talk) 09:27, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
You need to add this template at the beginning of the article
{{Databox|item=}}
After the sign = you need to add a code from Wikidata, related to the article you are creating, for instance, the code for Messi is Q615. So you need to find the article on Wikidata, take that code that starts with Q and add it after the sign =. Caro de Segeda (talk) 09:30, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
thank u sir . But are on telegram i need video totural pls Umargana1 (talk) 09:33, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
atlist how to create standat artcles in incubeto Umargana1 (talk) 09:30, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
To create an article, you need to put Wp/kr/Name of the article on the search bar, then click the red link and then write the article. At the bottom of the page, click "Publish changes" in blue and that's it.
If you want, I can put here sentences for you to translate and I can start creating some articles, as there is a List of articles every Wikipedia should have. Also, if it is easier for you, I can add the databox template myself. Caro de Segeda (talk) 09:45, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
yes i can create arctles . As u can see am the one who create most of the artcles here in kanuri incubeto. What i like to learn is how to standerlize the artcles like databox an so on.but i know how to creat arctlǝes Umargana1 (talk) 09:59, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Databox is just a template you add at the beginning of the article. You need to link it to Wikidata, which is why you add the code QXXX (being XXX the corresponding number of the article in question) after the sign =. That's it. Caro de Segeda (talk) 10:12, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
i understand thank you Umargana1 (talk) 10:19, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Caro de SegedaAnd I like to try this automatic translator. Is it a tool? Umargana1 (talk) 22:11, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
My idea is as follows: I can create an article and add a template that indicates that you need to revise it. Once you revise it, you take the template out. What do you think? The tool is this one. Caro de Segeda (talk) 22:17, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, could you please translate this to Kanuri?

Guosa is a constructed interlanguage originally created by Alex Igbineweka in 1965. It was designed to be a combination of the indigenous languages of Nigeria and to serve as a lingua franca to West Africa.

  • It has the following characteristics:
  • It is an isolating language with subject–verb–object word order.
  • There are no articles.
  • There is no grammatical gender or noun class system.
  • Most grammatical meaning is expressed through particles that precede the words they modify.
  • Adjectives follow the noun.
  • Guosa is generally prepositional.

I don't know what you need from me. For that project, you just need to create articles about women and/or try to engage more female Wikipedians, that is how I understand it. Jon Gua (talk) 17:57, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Jon Gua hello how r u doing hope u doing great. Do u have any idea that there's some wikis were jst created like obolo while theres some active wikis they r still in the incubator? Umargana1 (talk) 05:22, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have checked random articles from your wiki and they are right. Most of them have a small paragraph. I suggest to expand the already existing articles instead of creating new ones. Before they were not that demanding regarding the quality of the articles, but nowadays, for a Wiki to be approved they need to be longer as I can see. Jon Gua (talk) 06:46, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Jon Gua yes i notice that too but the artcles that are short they are massive which is why we propose our plan to call for an edithaton so that we can enhance the articles in no time. In Christianity, the Christ (/kraɪst/; Greek: Χριστός, romanized: Khristós, lit. 'the Anointed One') is a title for the savior and redeemer who would bring salvation to the Jewish people and mankind. Christ is the Greek translation of the Hebrew title Messiah (Hebrew: מָשִׁיחַ, romanized: Māšîah; anointed one), the figure promised by God to the Jewish people and mankind for the salvation of the world. Christians believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Jewish Messiah called Christ of the Christian Old Testament and fulfilled the messianic prophecies of Christian tradition. Christ, used by Christians both as a name and as a title, is synonymous with Jesus. --Jon Gua (talk) 07:54, 5 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Jon Gua sure. but pls i have a question what exactly on-wiki experience means Umargana1 (talk) 13:36, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
"On-wiki experience", IMHO refers to a person's experience contributing to and participating in Wikipedia. This includes editing pages, discussing, navigating through different pages, etc. Jon Gua (talk) 13:41, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Could u believe someone from the foundation judged me and some others of our community saying we dnt have on-wiki experience on our target wiki knc never the less. The wiki we r working on since from the incubator almost for 3ysr now Umargana1 (talk) 13:51, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh, in that case, it must refer that you don't know how to manage a wiki or how it works, but don't pay attention to that and just keep working. Jon Gua (talk) 13:57, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Its very discouraging hearing something like that from someone that is working for the foundation while all of us know the statement is not true. Umargana1 (talk) 14:01, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I totally get it but there is nothing you can do. Just don't pay attention to those comments. Jon Gua (talk) 14:03, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I will do that thank u Umargana1 (talk) 14:37, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don't know but I presume there are probably very few materials written in Kanuri and Wikipedia is a way to bridging the knowledge gap that exists in that language. The Wikipedia in Kanuri might look better or worse than other Wikipedias, but its purpose is to help Kanuri speakers to find knowledge in their own language. You are doing a great job to help your community with an educational tool that can be used by present and future generations. Any comments that don't serve to help building that project are to be ignored. That is, at least, my opinion. Jon Gua (talk) 14:53, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
We actually applied for rapid Grant for awareness campaign to introduce and recruit new volunteers while the wiki its new and only few knew abt it . After they reject our proposal Thats were the statement came from Umargana1 (talk) 15:18, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
