Error Template:Citation needed in Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia

[edit source]

I created some templates in Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia, the templates I found it the required modules are not change to prefixed links cause those templates weren't functioned, so I changed some prefixed module lines to prefixed links to make the templates functionable, but I still couldn't to fix the Citation needed in Nigerian Pidgin Wikipedia, it shows Script error: No such module "string", I check the template list it lacks Module:String, so that needs prefixed Module:String to make citation needed template can display texts, but I cannot to find out the module anywhere to allow me change line to prefixed link.--☆ ☀Wea☁ther ☂ Top☃ Wiz❄ard ☆ 02:57, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Gun namespaces

[edit source]

Hi,

You posted the namespace name translations for Gun somewhere, but I forgot where it was. Sorry, it's embarrassing

Can you please remind where it was? I want to make a patch for it. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:05, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Amire80, I have responded to it on your talk page. You can still find it below:

Hi,

I see that you created File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-gungbe.svg. Can you please explain the words "Owe Oyọnẹn Vọnu Tọn"? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:09, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Amire80, I have responded to the namespace on your talk page.
The word means: The free knowledge book or The free book of knowledge.
Owe--book
Oyọnẹn...knowledge
Vọnu...free
Tọn...a postposition that means "of"

Naijá localization

[edit source]

Hi, Samatics! I'm writing today because of the Naijá Wikipedia. I am really impressed with the sustained activity that is happening there, that is a very good sign. I would like to start the approval process for it, but I notice that the localization requirement (100% translation of the most important messages) is not met yet. Would you be able to relay this information to the Naijá community, that some more effort is required in Translatewiki before we can approve? Thanks! Jon Harald Søby (talk) 13:49, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jon Harald Søby, thanks for reaching out to me. I am glad to hear this and I will inform the community. Thanks!--Samatics (talk) 14:29, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wiktionary help

[edit source]

Hi, I’m an editor, mainly, on Twi Wikipedia; Twi is spoken in Ghana. I work with a team of 6 other editors with the aim of training more editors in the Twi language community. We would like to start some projects in Twi wiktionary, which was closed in 2008 from a lack of activity. Amir Aharoni recommended that we reach out to you. We would be grateful if you could assist in explaining how to get Twi wiktionary into incubator and how to add content. Looking forward to hearing from you. Naa2Darkoa (talk) 09:34, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Naa2Darkoa, please you and the other 6 editors should set your preferences. further instructions to do that are here. Let me know when that is done. Thanks.-- Samatics (talk) 11:26, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Moving and redirects

[edit source]

Hi,

I saw that you moved the Nigerian Pidgin main page without leaving a redirect. This usually shouldn't be done. Redirects should usually be kept when moving a page, even if the earlier name is foreign or incorrectly spelled. Deleting the redirect causes broken links. They should be deleted only in extreme circumstances, for example if the earlier name was harmful vandalism.

Thanks for understanding. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 11:53, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Amir, thanks for pointing to this. It was an oversight. Thanks.-- Samatics (talk) 13:30, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks.
Just checking: Are you sure about "Impotant" for "Special"? Does it mean "important"?
Special pages in MediaWiki are not necessarily important. They are called special because they cannot be edited like usual wiki pages, and they instead show forms or automatically-generated information and reports. So it's "special" in the sense of "not usual" and not in the sense of "important".
See also the "special page" entry in the Basic Glossary: translatewiki:Translating:MediaWiki/Basic glossary/en#special page. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:00, 2 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
The closest word to special in Nigeria pidgin is "Impotant" cos it gives the sense of "not usual", another alternative word would have been "Koko", but this is closer to a slang. Thanks--Samatics (talk) 09:05, 2 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
OK... If you're sure it works well, it's fine. It's just a bit difficult to change later, so I'm trying to make sure that it's good as early as possible.
Also, "Tok" is problematic for purely technical reasons because it happens to be a language code, which may create an ambiguity in links. Can it be replaced with something else, such as "Tok abaut am"? It's just a guess—feel free to propose something else. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:11, 2 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
... And there's also the same problem with "Pej". Can you maybe translate it as something like "Document page"? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:23, 2 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
