Isn't Category:Incubator:Test wikis of languages of Southeast Asia‎ already enough? Or the last one should be splitted? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 09:00, 26 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Liuxinyu970226:. The reason is this. First, more than 700 living languages are spoken in Indonesia. That's why, I think better to be splitted for each country, rather than using one big category such as Southeast Asia. Second reason is that in Indonesia already had Wikimedia Indonesia which supervised not only Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia, also 10 wiki languages which already have its wiki. Balinese itself, and may be another languages in this Incubator, will be below this community. Thank you.--Joseagush (talk) 04:40, 27 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
But then, some of these languages are also used in Malaysia, e.g. Madurese, aren't they? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 23:06, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Liuxinyu970226:. If many Madurese/Indonesian speakers in Malaysia it doesn't mean its coming from Malaysia. Its same like many Mexican speak Spanish in America doesn't mean the country category included in America. I would like categorised the languages based on its origin country. Thats my opinion to make the category. Thanks. Joseagush (talk) 04:15, 11 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

I don't have a problem with a further drilled-down category, as long as (a) it has at least three members, (b) is a subcategory of the parent, and (c) we don't double-categorize in both the parent category and subcategory. (The exception to the last rule is that pages in tests can always be in the main test category, for page-counting purposes, as well as in subcategories of the test.) StevenJ81 (talk) 17:00, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @StevenJ81:, Thanks for the advice. Ok, I will try to categorized the articles as the rule. Thanks. Joseagush (talk) 02:06, 24 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

User page for user Dhxrm08

[edit source]

I can't tell if this is appropriate content for a user page or not. If so, just please let me know here. (I'll watch your page.) If not, please guide that user as to the proper use of user pages. Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 17:00, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

On further consideration, look at this list. A lot of new user pages were created for your project on that date. Would you mind just going through them, and if they're appropriate, click on the "patrolled" link; if not, please ask the user to fix. Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 17:02, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi @StevenJ81:, Thanks for reaching me. Yes, there is Wikilatih (Wikipedia Training) on that day. We try to gathered local communities which active to used the language (Balinese language) for this project. Most of them didn't know this project either how to use this tools. We trained them but I think not so well. So on behalf, forgive me for not known what they do. I will try to patrolled them. Thanks. Btw, they used their native language on the user pages. Joseagush (talk) 02:02, 24 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I assumed something like that. But are their user pages appropriate? (That is, they're just identifying themselves, perhaps giving a line or two of introduction about interests? No advertising, no resumes, things like that?) I usually use Google translate to check things like this, but Google translate doesn't know the language. :( StevenJ81 (talk) 13:48, 24 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yups, they just introduce themself in their native language and why they interested in this project. I will try to translate it in English and put the language template to identify. Thank you. Yes, Balinese language is still not recognised by google translate and that is my dream to make this language accessible in google translate. Right now, we just made online dictionary using MediaWiki platform here.Joseagush (talk) 01:46, 25 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Approving Balinese Wikipedia

[edit source]

Hello, Jose! I am happy to tell you that the language committee has decided to approve the Balinese Wikipedia. However, there are some technical details that need to be filled before we can request the creation of the wiki. They are the namespace names – below I have pasted the Indonesian settings, so if you just replace the Indonesian terms with the Balinese terms, we're good to go for those.

$namespaceNames = [
	NS_MEDIA            => 'Media',
	NS_SPECIAL          => 'Istimewa',
	NS_TALK             => 'Pembicaraan',
	NS_USER             => 'Pengguna',
	NS_USER_TALK        => 'Pembicaraan_Pengguna',
	NS_PROJECT_TALK     => 'Pembicaraan_$1',
	NS_FILE             => 'Berkas',
	NS_FILE_TALK        => 'Pembicaraan_Berkas',
	NS_MEDIAWIKI        => 'MediaWiki',
	NS_MEDIAWIKI_TALK   => 'Pembicaraan_MediaWiki',
	NS_TEMPLATE         => 'Templat',
	NS_TEMPLATE_TALK    => 'Pembicaraan_Templat',
	NS_HELP             => 'Bantuan',
	NS_HELP_TALK        => 'Pembicaraan_Bantuan',
	NS_CATEGORY         => 'Kategori',
	NS_CATEGORY_TALK    => 'Pembicaraan_Kategori',
];

Second is the namespace name for "Wikipedia" and "Wikipedia talk". And finally, is there a Wikipedia logo for Balinese? If not, you can just give me the text (translations of "Wikipedia" and "The free encyclopedia"), and I can create one for you. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 11:53, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Jon Harald Søby:, Nice to have info from you and the good news about Balinese Wikipedia. Our community here already waiting this information. Here is the namespace names as we plan.
$namespaceNames = [
	NS_MEDIA            => 'Média',
	NS_SPECIAL          => 'Kusus',
	NS_TALK             => 'Pabligbagan',
	NS_USER             => 'Sang Anganggé',
	NS_USER_TALK        => 'Pabligbagan_Sang_Anganggé',
	NS_PROJECT_TALK     => 'Pabligbagan_Proyék',
	NS_FILE             => 'Berkas',
	NS_FILE_TALK        => 'Pabligbagan_Berkas',
	NS_MEDIAWIKI        => 'MédiaWiki',
	NS_MEDIAWIKI_TALK   => 'Pabligbagan_MédiaWiki',
	NS_TEMPLATE         => 'Mal',
	NS_TEMPLATE_TALK    => 'Pabligbagan_Mal',
	NS_HELP             => 'Wantuan',
	NS_HELP_TALK        => 'Pabligbagan_Wantuan',
	NS_CATEGORY         => 'Kategori',
	NS_CATEGORY_TALK    => 'Pabligbagan_Kategori',
];

For the namespace name for "Wikipedia" i think it will be same "Wikipedia", and "Wikipedia talk" will be 'Pabligbagan Wikipedia'. Is there a Wikipedia logo for Balinese? Yes, but still in discussion with other members. One of our team or myself will be send it to Commons soon. Can we use 2-3 options for logo? or must be just one logo? Because here (I mean in our wiki), we try to introduce with latin and balinese script. Joseagush (talk) 15:52, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much, I will add these shortly. As for logo, there is one project I'm aware of that has two scripts in its logo, namely Serbo-Croatian Wikipedia. We could use a similar solution for Balinese, but personally I don't think it looks very good. I would recommend having the "main" logo in the Latin script only, and then have a second logo in the Balinese script that is used on those pages which use that script (writing a jQuery to replace the logo for just those pages is very easy). Jon Harald Søby (talk) 16:38, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
BTW, shouldn't it be "Wikipédia" instead of "Wikipedia"? I see that is used on the main page. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 21:40, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Jon Harald Søby:, Yes, it should be "Wikipédia". Ok we will stick to 1 logo only. Thank you.Joseagush (talk) 01:54, 7 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Another info: We already proposed and approved by our community the line for "The free encyclopedia" will be "Énsiklopédi bébas", as Balinese don't have any meaning of bebas or "free". Thanks. Joseagush (talk) 03:26, 7 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Great, thank you. I've published the logo here. If there's something wrong or you decide later to add the Balinese script as well, changing it then is no problem. But for now I think this is good enough. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 09:05, 7 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Test admin status

[edit source]

Congratulations, Jose! Good luck with the new wiki!

Just as an administrative point, I am changing the expiration date of your test-admin rights to 21 October, one week after the new wiki was created. Effectively, you can't edit pages in the test anyway at this point. But in case there are things you still need to take care of here, we'll give you a week to wrap those up. And remember, you need to apply separately for administrator status for the new wiki at m:SRP. StevenJ81 (talk) 18:40, 16 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello and thanks @StevenJ81:, I would like to thank you on behalf of our community after this project success. No worries all our data already in our new wiki. Thank you. Joseagush (talk) 00:13, 17 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
