Wy/ps/نیویارک

[edit source]

I do not understand the reason you made this request. There seems to be a fair amount of content on this page. It would be better to fix it than to delete it. StevenJ81 (talk) 19:48, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Because we have the same name in Pashto ,this name have just different skrift Persian Skrift, that's why we don't need tow articles for one name. Look at this article writed by me, the name is written by Pashto keyboard. Wy/ps/نيويارک Khan (talk) 19:57, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

So you're saying the two pages are identical, except that one is in Pashto script and one in Persian script? StevenJ81 (talk) 20:13, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes yes:)) Khan (talk) 20:22, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

OK. I'll delete. Here's a question for the future. How much more work is it to take the current page, if written in Persian script, and modify it to be correct, instead of completely rewriting it? From the point of view of Wikimedia, that's really better, provided it's not a lot of work. StevenJ81 (talk) 20:27, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

It's finished, we have this page, which is Pashto Skrift Wy/ps/نيويارک Khan (talk) 20:31, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

No, I understand that. I mean if you find something else that has a problem like that. StevenJ81 (talk) 20:38, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Redirects to non-existent pages

[edit source]

Hi, Khan. Please notice that three pages from your test are listed at Special:BrokenRedirects. Each of them has one incoming link. Please fix those. Then you can delete the broken redirects. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:49, 2 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Approval

[edit source]

Probably on Monday I'm going to suggest to LangCom that it evaluate Wy/ps for approval. Here's something I'd like you and your collaborators to do over the next week while it is going through the approval process:
Generally, for subsequent projects in a language, the Language Committee likes to see a continuing effort to translate the interface. So here's what I'd like you to do. Reference: https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:LanguageStats&language=ps

  • Update the one message in "MediaWiki (most important messages)" that is outdated
  • Under MediaWiki Extensions: As much as possible, translate the messages in "Content translation messages – all" and "Universal Language Selector messages – all"
  • If possible after that, knock of another 100–200 messages within MediaWiki Core. (For sure, update any outdated translations there.)

StevenJ81 (talk) 15:38, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Khan, you keep asking me "What can I do?" Aside from just waiting, please do the translation work I've outlined here. Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 13:59, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Which translation sir? Khan (talk) 14:35, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Interface translation at translatewiki.net. Go to the reference page linked above, and look to make the corrections and updates I've outlined here. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:23, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hei sir Believe me I really don't understand, what do you mean. can you give me any link or something else that I should work on it:))) Khan (talk) 15:59, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:LanguageStats&language=ps StevenJ81 (talk) 16:03, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Should I translate all of this messages, or any special one? Khan (talk) 16:05, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Start with
  • "MediaWiki (most important messages)". Last I checked, at least one translation was "outdated". Confirm or update that.
  • Go to "MediaWiki extensions", and look for "Content translation messages - all" and then "Universal Language Selector messages - all". Do as many of those as possible, both "untranslated" and "outdated".
  • Then go to "MediaWiki core" and do as many as you can. There are a lot of untranslated or outdated messages there, and I don't necessarily need you to finish them all (though if you can it would be great). But try to do what you can on those.
Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 16:09, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I live in Norway. so I have many tests and many other things, because we will soon get free for Christmas but Thanks to you sir for helping us I will try my best I joined translatewiki.net in 2017 but I have translated more than 1000 messages:)))) Khan (talk) 16:20, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm not saying you haven't done a good job. I'm not even saying Wy/ps won't be approved without it. (Possible sole exception: do fix the outdated message at "most important".) LangCom just uses the opportunity of subsequent project approvals to try to encourage more translation of the interface, and I'm passing that along. (I think there may be too many messages. But that's another discussion.) StevenJ81 (talk) 17:00, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I know sir I am trying to say that after Friday I will get much more time than I have now, and I will finish all the MediaWiki core massages. Promises.... Khan (talk) 20:13, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Look, have some vacation, too. But thank you. (;-) StevenJ81 (talk) 20:35, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hei sir langcom will approve Wikivoyage in 2017 or 2018?:))) Khan (talk) 21:20, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Chances are that we will have an official approval before the end of 2017. It is very unlikely the wiki will actually be created and exported before the end of the year, though, because the systems developers and programmers will also be taking some time off. StevenJ81 (talk) 23:14, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hei sir did langcom said anything about Pashto Wikivoyage, I am very excited:)) Khan (talk) 04:32, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Vote is positive so far. The one person who objected mostly wants you to have more content in the project, so keep creating content. We're leaving the discussion at LangCom open until the formal Meta discussion period ends on Tuesday. StevenJ81 (talk) 18:51, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hei sir there is some pages that people have made those before I came here, and you said don't delete pages and fix them, but there is no information about those places even on Google I couldn't fine more than that for those articles, but I promise the article I will create should have much text as possible. thank you sir:))) Khan (talk) 03:21, 25 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I did this prematurely. Rolling back. Keep working on it. StevenJ81 (talk) 23:24, 26 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Deleting pages

Hi. You're a test-admin. That means you can delete pages in Wy/ps yourself. --MF-W {a, b} 09:19, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Text in Pashto Wikivoyage

[edit source]

@Bloch khan: I have replaced some English on your front page with Pashto but I don't actually know your language so please make sure it is correct. This is something that would help you get your project graduated sooner: ensuring that there is very little non-Pashton on the site (altho it is okay to have a single page for English speakers to ask questions or get help). —Justin (koavf)TCM 07:22, 12 February 2018 (UTC) Khan (talk) 08:05, 12 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

A couple of things

[edit source]
  1. I put Wy/ps back in front of LangCom. I'm cautiously hopeful this time, but we'll see what happens.
  2. What is User:Atalym (intentionally not linked or pinged) trying to say at the bottom of I:CP? StevenJ81 (talk) 22:06, 13 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@StevenJ81: Sir it's because of me, I told everyone in Pashto Wikipedia that we will soon get Pashto Wikivoyage, he just asked in how much time Pashto Wikivoyage will be created, I will talk to him to take his text from there:) Khan (talk) 06:34, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Test-admin status

[edit source]

I will turn this off in one week.

I see that MF-Warburg has already given you admin status on the new wiki for a month. Remember that to extend that, you need to have an RfA discussion on the new wiki. It needs to be open for one week. Assuming the community supports you, then go back to m:SRP and request the extension. Good luck! StevenJ81 (talk) 18:13, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@StevenJ81: thank you very much, and yes I will do that you said :-) Khan (talk) 18:19, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
