Mandailing[edit source]

Hello, thanks for your contributions in Mandailing. However the code Wp/mld is reserved for the Maltese Sign Language. Please only contribute under the code for Mandailing, Wp/btm. Thanks. If you have any questions, please ask me. --MF-W {a, b} 02:17, 10 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your attention. i used the code Wp/mdl no Wp/mld, i don't used the code Wp/btm because Mandailing is not part of Batak, Btm is meanings Batak Mandailing... you are wellcome.

I'm sorry, I mis-spelled. mld stands for Ormuri language, mdl for Maltese Sign Language. --MF-W {a, b} 03:09, 10 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

o.k. thank for your information... how if i use Wp/mnd for mandailing mnd ?

Unfortunately not. Do you know that Mandailing belongs to the Batak languages (according to en.wiki article)? So I don't see any sense to avoid the code btm (eventually, it's just a code, no more). --Midnight Gambler (talk) 11:59, 10 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sorry... I explain first, cause we are Mandailingers not have to be sub etnict of Batak and never to be Batak part too... cause we far far older than Batak etnict. it's explain our language more more older than Batak language and different too, and i see btm is not there in Midnight Gambler too, why not we use mnd for our language code no btm, right? and btm is not just a code, but abbreviation of Batak Mandailing too, and the Bataks is made its code no us. We are not comportable with thats code. thanks.

The code mnd is also for a different language (you can check codes on this website: [1]). We need to use the ISO 639-3 standard, so it's necessary to use the code btm. --MF-W {a, b} 22:03, 10 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I checked in the books of Mandailing Catagory in Indonesian Library, usually used mnd code .... no btm ... btm (batak mandailing) is for Batak People lived in Mandailing (have language Batak mixed Mandailing), not for Mandailing Language for Mandailing People in Mandailing ... — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sutan Mangalobihi (discussioncontribs) 01:30, 16 August 2013 (UTC).Reply

Sorry, your library can do what it wants, but we need to keep to the ISO 639-3 standard, where mnd is for the Mondé language. Do you think that Ethnologue describes the wrong language, so not the one which you want to edit, on their page? --MF-W {a, b} 02:40, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree, the ISO 639-3 standard for Mandailing is btm so this should be kept (unless the Mandailing people lodge an application to SIL.org to request a change to another ISO code. In any event, the mnd code would most likely still be used for the Mondé people in Brazil and this should be respected for now. Otherwise the Monde people would be denied their ISO code when they want to create their Wikipedia edition in the future. The Mandailing content should be created under the prefix Wp/btm. --Ernesztina (talk) 23:53, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
On second thoughts, there are only 2 native speakers of the Mondé language remaining in the world so the Mondé language is unlikely to get its own Wikipedia. Nevertheless, the Mandailing people would still need to apply to SIL.org to get their language code changed (if they really wish to). --Ernesztina (talk) 00:48, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Kode bahasa[edit source]

Salam Pak.
