Waste of Wikimedia money by russian nationalist vandals

It is well-known, that Wikipedia in so-called "Padonki" pseudo-language is denied by community: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Denied#Padonki_.2831_support.2C_27_oppose.29

So may we know, when they will cease to waste money of Wikimedia Foundation and use incubator disk space for their test "wikipedia"? When this mockery at East-Slavonic Languages will be stopped at last? When they will cease to write in criminal nationalistic slang in international Wikipedia?

Transwiki of pages from other projects

Hello. I work on the test of the Ancient Greek Wikisource. Currently there are some ready pages in Ancient Greek at the Greek Wikisource (http://el.wikisource.org/). I wanted to ask if it is necessary to transwiki those pages, in order to preserve the previous history at a special page, or is it OK to write down the history at the talk page of each article & template, as I did so far? --Dead3y3 01:19, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin policy

Considering the size of the core community here, the requirement for 4 votes for new admins seems too high. SPQRobin requested adminship on 28 May but no one commented on that request at all until he pointed it out to me and I supported his request. Considering there was a backlog of several hundred pages listed for speedy deletion until I cleared them yesterday, there is obviously a need for new admins. Should the policy be relaxed so that new people do have some chance of becoming admins here? Angela 15:40, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say yes; however (as you've probably noticed) I'm by no means an active contributor here any more, so I'm not sure if I'm really qualified to judge the situation here. Judging by what you've said here (about the number of active users etc.) your conclusion seems entirely reasonable: go ahead. Dbmag9 20:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think nobody will answer anymore. Should it be ok, or what now? SPQRobin 15:52, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Special characters for Tarrifit Language wp/rif

We really need these characters to write in tarrifit :

Ɛ Č Ḍ Ğ Ḥ Γ(Ɣ) Ṛ Ṣ Ṭ Ț Ẓ Ž ε č ḍ ğ ḥ ɣ ṛ ṣ ṭ ţ ẓ ž

Tarrifit language is of the same family as the Kabyle language (Tamaziɣt). The http://kab.wikipedia.org (recently moved from the incubator to wiki main page) have these characters to write their articles. This is the transcription recommended by Salem Chaker, Centre de Recherche Berbère, INALCO. It has been used for the Baccalaureat Exam (equivalent Level A) for more than 10 years first by the Kabyles then by the Riffians.

http://www.inalco.fr/crb/docs_pdf/notation.pdf ---> page 17

I request you to modify the global monobook.js and add these characters. Thank you very much.

Done --MF-W {a, b} Visit IRC! 15:37, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have done a good work but there is one mistake, it is my fault, not yours at all. Γ(Ɣ) are two different characters. I suggest you to remove the (Ɣ) from Γ(Ɣ) because they are counted as one character in your modification). We'd rather use only the Γ as recommended by the Centre de Recherche Berbère, INALCO.

So please edit the tarrifit special character from Γ(Ɣ) to Γ

Thank you very much for your work. It is now easier to write in Tarrifit in Wikimedia.

thanks a lot.--Ayour 18:18, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Our local language : tarrifit, wp/rif

There is one mistake in the main page (http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) of the incubator in the spelling of our local language tarrifit. Malbot accounts - need blocked

I don't know if the folks here are aware of this issue, but there is a malbot that has been creating masses of accounts on many WMF projects over the past few weeks. There's a pattern to the accounts created - each username has ten characters, and the first and sixth ones are always capitalised. I've noticed a few such accounts being created over here. I'd like to suggest that those accounts, specifically user:RolorTrchi, User:SitcaEltel, and user:AleltBasac, be indefblocked. (All of the malbot accounts have been created from open proxies, as confirmed by checkuser at the English Wikinews.) I believe the stewards are already aware of this issue. Thanks, Tempodivalse 20:39, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
When stewards are aware of this they should lock and hide the account on a global base, instead of blocking them local.
I don't think I'm going to block those accounts here. Abigor talk 08:31, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is very difficult for stewards to block all accounts globally, given the sheer number that have been created. It's easier on the stewards if local blocks are made (and it doesn't make much difference whether an account is blocked locally or globally, since user cannot be made SUL if it's home wiki is blocked). Tempodivalse 14:39, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Abigor. These accounts haven't made any contribtutions, so I don't see a reason to block them. --MF-W {a, b} 15:51, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I de-translatored Newyorkmets2000. He has been messing around with things in the MediaWiki namespace that he shouldn't be... he effectively locked down editing on the wiki for anyone other than sysops with the Titleblacklist. We should review all the edits he's made and see if there are any other issues. Cbrown1023 talk 20:50, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

After Az1568 pointed this to me... I realized it's probably a good idea to block him. (However this doesn't mean we can't unblock him later.) Cbrown1023 talk 21:14, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with prefixing Template:Wp/jam/documentation

I keep getting a "This page is using an unprefixed version of template {{Documentation}}" error. I can't find the offending reference neither in this template nor in the transcluded {{Use prefixed copy}} nor in {{Wp/jam/Documentation/docname}}. --Mkratz 23:31, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In {{Template:Wp/jam/Documentation/docname}} Line 1:
Replace {{Use prefixed copy|Documentation/docname}} by {{Wp/jam/Documentation/docname}}
Not sure, whether this solves all the problems. Just an idea.
P.S. The same in {{Template:Wp/jam/documentation}} --Murma174 11:01, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't that invoke a different template at this place, namely {{Wp/jam/Documentation/docname}} instead of {{Use prefixed copy}}?
Anyway, I already had tried "{{Use prefixed copy|Wp/jam/Documentation/docname}}" and got the suggestion to "Create {{Wp/jam/Wp/jam/Documentation/docname}} instead" (sic!) --Mkratz 12:47, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
{{Use prefixed copy}} must be removed from the template to let that message disappear. It is only intended to be used on unprefixed templates. --MF-W {a, b} 16:02, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A-HA! Much better now. Thanks.
Perhaps it would be nice to tell the bot that includes {{Use prefixed copy}} to separate it by a double-CRLF from the actual template content, and maybe add a comment giving removal directions. --Mkratz 18:35, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know there is no bot that adds the template, it has been done by normal users. --MF-W {a, b} 14:43, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I've just written an article on Josef (= Ujöp) Freinademetz in the Bavarian Wikipedia (Boarisch) and wanted to link it also to Ladin, by [[lld:Ujöp Freinademetz]]. It did not work. Here, in the incubator, towards Bavarian, it does work: [[bar: Josef Freinademetz]]. I think that it's very important to fetch the "slumbering" versions to the public; who can help? Hellsepp 16:37, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

This is because the wp/lld does not have an own subdomain yet, so it also can't have an interwiki code. It is possible to link to Incubator pages from other wikis using [[incubator: ...]], they do however only work as links in the text, not as interwikis appearing in the box on the left (you can use either [[:incubator or [[incubator: therefore, for other wikis there is a difference between e.g. [[:bar:... link in the text and [[bar:... interwiki link). The problem can hardly be solved as Incubator contains more than one test project - it could therefore happen that more than one interwiki link is placed to Incubator - the software wouldn't know which language to display in the interwiki box, and interwiki bots will be confused and cause mess. --MF-W {a, b} 16:21, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Using images

Usually I can use all the images used in the german Wikipedia for Wp/frr. But in some cases they don't show up, e.g. in this article: Wp/frr/Binomisch_formel . Is this problem solved automatically as soon as Wp/frr is approved? --Murma174 10:41, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can use all images from commons: here, de:file:Bino1.png, de:file:Bino2.png and de:file:Bino3.png are however local files from de.wikipedia. If you want to use them here (or later in a frr.wikipedia.org subdomain), you have to move them to Commons. --MF-W {a, b} 16:25, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) That happens because these images were uploaded locally to the German Wikipedia, not Commons, the repository for all the Wikimedia wikis. If you want them to show up, you'll have to upload them. --Diego Grez 16:25, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Uploaded ... and works. Thank you! --Murma174 19:29, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to use various templates already available in English Wikipedia but unable to do so. Please extend your help to us. Thanks

Angpradesh 02:29, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Which templates are you talking about exactly? It is necessarry that they are imported here and are prefixed with Template:Wp/anp/ if they don't exist here on Incubator, but only on en.wp yet. --MF-W {a, b} 18:33, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There definitively is something wrong with this template, see: User:A R King. Does anyone see the problem? --OWTB 19:50, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The same problem exists on Meta, from where the template was copied; it is because it doesn't follow the standard format (it uses #ifeq instead of #switch). I fixed it using the babel templates from en.wikipedia, but it couldn't harm if a speaker of the language could have a look if they are correct. --MF-W {a, b} 16:27, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
