MISC[edit source]

@Comp1089 hey, you might have seen this multiple times under "Noun" (Zina) and wondering what it means : La chinthu chambula umoyo.

Well, La chinthu chambula umoyo means "A noun of lifeless thing" and this is anything that has no life such as stone, car, bicycle.

Remember classes of noun?

Abstract noun = things you can't touch or see, such as air, death, etc.

And thanks once again for helping out. Your presence matters on this project @Comp1089. Thank you. Sure, I will correct where needs translation. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 19:13, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I actually thought "la chinthu chambula umoyo" means something along the line of "lifeless thing". What exactly is "la kutyesa" then?

@Comp1089 Wow, your Chewa is 100% correct.
la kutyesa means "a name that can also be used to mock someone"
la = of
kutyesa = mocking
For example, some names work in double e.g. tortoise, that is (1) an animal and (2) someone who does things slowly (which is mocking) .
Hey, about Whatsapp, yes I used to be on Whatsapp, but have since lost interest in it and uses other Instant messaging apps that are more like Whatsapp.
Though I may be available in on it again (Whatsapp) in the nearest few weeks/days from now.
Thank you.

OK, so let's stay in touch on different apps. Feel free to email me and explain, how I could find you there. Comp1089 (talk) 19:35, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

RENAME[edit source]

@Comp1089 and should I rename this article into Tumbuka? Or leave it like this.

Also an important question, does a Wiktionary in Tumbuka needs to have only subject entries in Tumbuka language or mixed with other languages?

Thanks.

Tumbuka Arch (talk) 19:20, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

No, you should not rename the article. The Tumbuka wiktionary should have two types of entries:
  1. Tumbuka language words with explanations in Tumbuka
  2. Words from any foreign language with their translations into Tumbuka.
Thus, a Tumbuka speaker will find out about both his language and foreign languages. Comp1089 (talk) 19:22, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
The thing you should do though, is to translate anything in the content of the article that is not in Tumbuka. Comp1089 (talk) 19:24, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Comp1089 thanks I will translate.
You mean headings right? Tumbuka Arch (talk) 19:34, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
