The client

I guess some sort of Wikibase client has to be installed here to make it possible to use Scribunto to access Wikibase. I see nothing of that in Special:Version today. That does not mean that this is impossible to implement here today- But we probably need the help of javascript, which can access Wikidata through the api. From what I know, you cannot access the api by the help of Scribunto, at least not directly. But I can be wrong! -- Innocent bystander (talk) 06:26, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

OK. I don't know anywhere close to the amount that you do about this, Innocent bystander. Let's put this aside until after the first of the year. I'm going to put a discussion up here at I:AN to ask people if they think it would be of value to install Wikibase here, and we'll go on from there. StevenJ81 (talk) 18:33, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

I am not sure such a version of Wikibase client (without the option to add incubator-iw on WD but with access to arbitrary access) is something the developer team is prepared to install on a WMF-wiki today. From what I have heard, that is an option for volunteering private wikis (and developer-sandbox-wikis), but Incubator?!
