Bohdan Khmelnytskyi (1596–1657) was a Ukrainian military and political figure. In 1648-1657 he was hetman of the Zaporizhzhya Army. The organizer of the uprising against the Polish nobility in Ukraine, which expanded into the national liberation war of the Ukrainian people (1648–1657) against Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
