Michael Long (born 1 October 1969) played for Essendon Football Club between 1989 wer 2001, was a member of two premiership sides wer the winner of the 1993 Norm Smith Medal. He was a spokesperson for indigenous rights and against racism in sport.[1] See "The Long Walk" - Michael Long's 2004 walk from Melbourne to Canberra.[2]

This was an earlier walk to Canberra than Clinton Pryor's "Walk for Justice" from WA in 2016 - 2017 and Alwyn Doolan's "Message Stick Walk" from Queensland in 2018 - 2019.
