Wp/nys/Meeandip (Garden Island)
Meeandip, or Garden Island, is a slender goorda about mara mara kilometres long wer keny kilometres wide, lying about mara kilometres in wardan, to which it is yeye linked by a wadjella-made causeway, it is the body of Yondock (Spirit Crocodile).
Like Wadjemup wer Carnac goorda, it is a limestone outcrop covered by a thin layer of sand accumulated during an era of lowered sea levels.[1] Noongar tell of walking to these goorda in the nyttininy.
At the end of the last glacial period, the wardan level rose, cutting the goorda off from the mainland. For the last mara koodjal thousand years the goorda has existed in relative isolation.
The Royal Australian Navy's largest fleet base, Fleet Base West, also called HMAS Stirling, are il the shores of Careening Bay, il the southeastern section of Meeandip, facing Derbal Nara.
Meeandip is home to a Damar population.

[edit | edit source]The body of the Yondock drifted off wer became Meeandip. You can see at the northern end of Meeandip is yennar djardak cliffs. Nidja is where the tail was bitten off. His tail was the limestone bar at the mouth of the Derbarl Yerrigan, until wadjella take yira to ease access to Boorooloo via the beerilya when Fremantle harbour was built in the 1890s.
