Choonya,[1] Yaagan, Yannick,[2] or Booyi.[1] In English it is called the Southwestern snake-necked turtle or the Long-neck Turtle[3] or the Narrow-breasted Snake-necked Turtle[4]. Its scientific name is Chelodina colliei wer it is a species of turtle in the family Chelidae. It is an animal of the beeliar wer gnama (river wer waterhole).

Noongar people favoured the eggs of the turtle, nests were found by a ring of yellow sand left after the female had buried them.[1] This turtle is the only native freshwater turtle species found throughout metropolitan suburban Perth.[3]
