User talk:Kmoksy
Add topicHi, Kmoksy, it's me, Turtash. I just used my old Incubator nick Kolaksaj. As far as I remember better not to make subcategories in this stage, isn't it?--Kolaksaj 08:55, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Just as far as I remember they normally use only one root category WP/esu in this case for all articles. After incubator project approval Wp/esu will be replaced with category Contents (Imat in this case). After that all articles will be distributed among subcategories--Kolaksaj 09:16, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Kmoksy, it's not difficult ) You must have at least 10 articles in root WP/esu category. After that you have to apply for the project approval using special form. The project needs 7-10 members community with native speakers among them. I will ask sahwiki, ruswiki, myvwiki, kvwiki to assist with voting as they assisted to me (I was alone with my mdf.wiki project). All shall be well ;-) Ask ikwiki members for support as we need minimum good 10 stubs with text and references to apply fo approval --Kolaksaj 09:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Do you mean she doesn't want any non-Yupik contributors to take part in the project??--Kolaksaj 11:08, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, Rower doesn't want Non-Yupik contributors to be involved. She doesn't want to participate herself too. That is why you sent messages to her students? Not quite clear for me why we cannot ask for assistance Minority Languages project members for technical support as we need to pass voting and receive approval for this wiki.--Kolaksaj 11:25, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I guess she wants to avoid numerous mistakes in Yupik wiki, but that's not important because native speakers will correct them. As far as I understand no ikwiki members gonna contribute. It's up to you, as you are the founder. I can distribute messages among Minority Languages project members any time because you will need community and assistance for this wiki approval as I told you before. There are two active contributors in my wiki and we still hope for native speakers input but the fact is no community in mdfwiki--Kolaksaj 08:25, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
New wiki approval
[edit source]Briefly about the rules what are the steps for a new wiki to start. First step is request on meta m:Requests_for_new_languages#Wikipedia, then need to enter all contributors, marking native speakers "N" (non-native speaker may be a new project founder, no problem). Then here is the project status page m:Language_subcommittee/Status/wp-mdf with all requirements listed. Here is active users statistics [1]. 5 contributors during 1 month must make minimum 10 edits in the new wiki. Requirements will be marked crossed off the list as soon as the new wiki meets all of them--Kolaksaj 12:43, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I tried to place a new request on meta but language name is red coloured, pls advise what is correct language name in English Central Alaskan Yup'ik language or Isu (Menchum Division) as per ISO 639-3 isu? What is exact wikipedia article name on this language with all respective language codes?--Kolaksaj 13:38, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I used the same language name but either something wrong with the name or I just forgot something. Awaiting answers from admins I know. We will work it out ;-)--Kolaksaj 17:46, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Kmoksy, unfortunately I cannot see their messages because of privacy settings( What they said?--Kolaksaj 19:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, not bad!:-)--Kolaksaj 19:55, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- So, my friend, please take care of extending at least 10 of articles and make them consisting of minimum several sentences + references and links. I will check one more time with admins I know re new wiki registering to be on the safe side. We will apply as soon as I receive their comments. If you have links to any Yup'ik texts or dictionaries pls let me know. It might be of help. Ideally we need 10 people and at least 5 of them native speakers or second language. We'll arrange voting and will have to keep editing activities for a month, after that Yup'ik wiki will be approved--Kolaksaj 21:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes! Those 6 examples are really good! You are really great Yupik language warrior! ;-) I started suspecting you can speak this language --Kolaksaj 21:48, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- .:-)BTW what influenced your interest to Yupik?--Kolaksaj 22:00, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, it's a complete research! First I thought it was your hobby, but I suspected linguistic issues) Actually I would suppose your interest to Chuvash or especially Saha (Yakut) which (as far as I know) preserved a lot of old Turkic vocabulary. But Yup'ik is so far. Like Chukchi which is one of Palaeo-Asiatic--OK, first of all I want to look through your research up to the end. Pity I almost do not understand Turkish but I can understand some Tatar)--Kolaksaj 22:36, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, Ümüt for intersting info and your research link. Actually Jarmanj is my surname and Turtash is my name because in Moksha the name is postpositive like in Hungarian) But this is only my native name, name for home, official name is Russian Oleg Kazanin, I'm 40. Nice to meet you!--Kolaksaj 23:01, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- You absolutely right re Turdus. Ardıçkuşu. Must sound funny in Turkish I guess) It's very old hunting tradition to give bird names to males). I suppose you understand some Moksha too) BTW, can I show your research to somebody?--Kolaksaj 23:22, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, 'juniper bird' sounds funny). In Moksha land these birds are black or with yellow spotted breast. Juniper is called vinjdärjks from which comes vinjdiräv (bat) in Moksha. In the same time I don't know why old Mokshan Turtas resembles very much Latin Turdus. You are very accurate and precise in html language comparing to me. I would really like to be as good in html as you.--Kolaksaj 00:43, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- No one hunts blackbirds or thrushes in Mokshaland except hawks) Yeah, your site is well designed. I'll try to learn more html tricks. You have a good vision or taste for this. It's a kind of art. Maybe you could advise me how to make this much beautiful Main page in mdfwiki as it is in Yup'ik test wiki?--Kolaksaj 01:10, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- You mean I may copy some html patterns from the Yup'ik Ikirun to Moksha main page? Well, I don't really want them to look similar. Actually I don't know exactly what Moksha wiki main page might look like. Of course I would like it look like some French or Danish main page but of course I still don't have enough articles and templates for that. So, to my mind I need to keep it simple but attractive, mostly in minimalism style. Need to change this Mordovia flag to Moksha and use Rubia color-- Never mind. Just stream of consciousness, just thinking :-) Oh, one more important thing for a new wiki, you will need to have couple of hundreds system messages translated into Yup'ik! Native speaker's assistance will be of great importance. Most used messages (their translation is a must) you can see here--Kolaksaj 08:25, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sure, Ümüt, we can adapt to Yup'ik some English terms as borrowings, but since you understand some Yup'k, pls check with ikwiki system messages translation. They must be similar. Or show her ikwiki translations--Kolaksaj 13:52, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Yup'ik wiki request at Meta
[edit source]- Hi, Ümüt, now all is almost ready thanks to admins I asked for assistance. Correct request is here meta:Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Central Alaskan Yup'ik Still not placed to m:Requests_for_new_languages. Need to check first
- If Yup'ik name in Yup'k language is correct here meta:Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Central Alaskan Yup'ik
- Need names of native speakers who plan to contribute in esuwiki. Better if they could write about their interest themselves.--Kolaksaj 08:01, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, Ümüt, New User it's great but he is not Yup'ik speaker, what are the news about Yup'k contributors/translators (Cup'ig)? Did you check meta:Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Central Alaskan Yup'ik? Is it ok for submitting to m:Requests_for_new_languages? Please first make changes if needed an put your "arguments in favour". You can contact Amir as he represents now language commitee and kindly confirmed he is ready to help with Yup'ik wiki arrangements--Kolaksaj 14:15, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, Ümüt, have you started translation of 500 most used messages? We need more contributors, supporters for Yup'ik to make their comments. Sorry for not backing you up, have some problems at work at the moment. Please be careful. All requirements must be met in due time.--Kolaksaj 21:42, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry :-) Rower Chevak is not translated. The two teachers (Rower Chevak's friends) not contact me. I was lonely. I not know Yupik. I'm hopeless. --Kmoksy 21:58, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Anyway, we can try. Let's try to translate 500 messages comparing to ik.wiki messages and using English borrowings. Later we'll find opportunity to amend them. I'll try to help you. Okay?--Kolaksaj 21:56, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Where is the list of 500 messages? Is there such a list ? Where we can find a list? :-) I am working on Eskimo articles in the Turkish Wikipedia: Especially, YUPİKLER, YUPİKÇE, SUPİKLER, SUPİKÇE, İNYUPİKLER :-() --Kmoksy 22:26, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Very good designed articles! I checked with translatewiki.net and didn't find esu language, made request here. Awaiting for approval. You will apply as translator and me I will apply too. You have number of system messages translated and you may apply as Yup'ik language researcher. I will apply as translation assistant and fixup supporter. Will keep you informed. I mean one cannot stop halfway)--Kolaksaj 10:45, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

- I don't like the way our discussion took [2]--Kolaksaj 12:59, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- We need at least two native speakers, Ümüt, may be you could invite some of those Yup'ik students in facebook? Age or education are not important--Kolaksaj 20:57, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- Facebook ([3]]). But, I have no hope .-) --Kmoksy 21:19, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

From Rower Chevak on the Facebook
[edit source]Rower Paangelria 07 September, 03:31 I have lost the username/password for my wikipedia. And I still have not heard from those two people I ask about helping out with the Yugtun vik'ipitiya.
One of the guys I asked is not working at the moment, but doesn't have a computer, he only have his cell phone for internet, I guess thats why he doesn't take the time to see about it because it would take too long.
The other guy I asked is also a teacher here at my school, but I guess he's too busy between his teaching and coaching for a sport team.
I can try asking them again, but if i don't get respond from them again, i guess that means they're not interested...
For me to try help, like I said, Yup'ik I don't feel so confident like I do for Cup'ik... and plus, it seems to take lot of time besides the material I need to make for our 'baby' Cup'ik immersion classes here at our school, besides trying to teach it to them. Maybe you can also try sending a message to someone at the Alaska Native Language Center at the UAF in Fairbanks to help out. There are people there who take Yup'ik classes. And there are a couple of professors that know Yup'ik too.
Let me know how it goes. -Rebecca

From Kmoksy to University of Alaska, Fairbanks
[edit source]The Yup'ik Wikipedia From: Ümüt Çınar To: fyanlp@uaf.edu
Hi, my name is Ümüt Çınar (my nickname is on the Wikipedia: Kmoksy). I write from Turkey, Ankara. Help me. We start the Yup'ik Wikipedia on the Incubator (http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/esu/Ikirun). I write on the Iñupiaq Wikipedia (http://ik.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kmoksy) I am interested in indigenous languages of Alaska. Also, I write a review article for Iñupiaq language (http://kmoksy.com/kalem/OkuzunAltindaArananBuzagi.pdf). But, I don't know Iñupiaq and Yup'ik. Native Yugtun speaker is not on the Wikipedia. The two native Yugtun speakers necessary for Incubator translating. Regards. --Kmoksy 22:55, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, Ümüt! Very wise of you! I just wanted to offer to send a message to Fairbanks University!--Kolaksaj 08:31, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Azerice Vikihaber
[edit source]- İyi günler. Azerice Vikihaber'e katkıda bulunmak ister misiniz? Kategori sisteminden, haber yazımına, şablonlardan, resimlere birçok konuda katkıda bulunabilirsiniz. Kolay gelsin. İyi vikiler.)--Reality006 13:19, 24 April 2011 (UTC) və --Cekli829 03:52, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
