Removing scots material[edit source]

I'm working with entires for a Wiktionar in Scots - the focus is on Scots words and phrases, so I've been removing the non-Scots sections. They other languages may be added back in later, after all the current pages are translated, but that's going to be a bit, as it seems I'm the only one working on this project. :) -Avicennasis ^talk? Wiktionary is supposed to contain every language. Not only words in given language. So there is no reason to remove those items which somebody already filled in and thus destroy his work. Could you please put them back then? Thanks.

Firstly: "...thus destroy his work." These pages were imported from EnWt, so no one here put forth hard effort into these pages.

"Wiktionary is supposed to contain every language. Not only words in given language." I couldn't find any info one way or the other to support this, though admittedly I didn't look that hard. I had undone my changes for now. Can you please provide a source for this statement? I know that EnWt provides entries for every language, however I thought whether to use all languages or only one was the choice of the Wiktionary. For example, The Esperanto Wiktionary does not provide pages for words in other languages, only it's own. For example, EoWt:English doesn't exist, but the word for English in Esperanto does: EoWt:angla. The Esperanto Wiktionary has been around since 2004, with a decent number of English speaking contributors, so it's not that the page hasn't been created yet. Also, comparing EnWt pages to EoWt, you'll see that Esperanto pages only contain the definition for that word in Esperanto, not other languages. Examples include EoWt:angla vs. EnWt:angla, and EoWt:saluto vs. EnWt:saluto.

I fully admit that I may have been incorrect in my assumption that the Wiktionary can chose it's language course, however I hope the above will at least explain where I may have been misguided. -Avicennasis ^talk? (SWMT) 22:32, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
