Introduction

While the Chinook Jargon Wikipedia (Wp/chn) has a reputation for poor grammar on the CJ Discord server, its three active users are highly compassionate about the small Wikipedia version. Two of the three (ISO 369-3 nds and POSSUM chowg) have a relatively poor knowledge of the Jargon, and the other (Jon Gua) does not speak it at all. However, all three are constantly looking for ways to improve and expand Wp/chn. But this is about the history of the CJ Wikipedia, which is one of the oldest wikis on the Wikimedia Incubator, founded in 2005.

The early years

Origins- The Wawa Era

On July 8, 2005, the first edit to the wiki was written down by Haruo, a linguist and a friend of David Robertson. Soon after, the following Duployan Shorthand message appeared on the front page, "klahauya ukuk chi haukipitia [sic] kopa chinuk wawa". At the time, the wiki was under the domain "Test-wp/wawa", it would later be moved to "Test-wp/chn" and then to "Wp/chn".
