Born Colburn, North Yorkshire, 24th September 1950. Began rock climbing 1965. Moved to Sheffield (teacher training) 1970. Rock climbed extensively throughout UK, Europe and North America. Wrote 1st guidebook for Cicerone Press in 1990. Wrote 1st guidebook for Rockfax 2001. Won Guidebook of the Year at Banff Canada with Lofoten Rock in 2008
