Are you sure the name should be ⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲁ? It looks like a borrowing from Modern Greek which is not very good i suppose. Maybe we should change it to something like ϫⲟⲩⲣϫⲓⲁ or ⲅⲟⲩⲣϫⲓ (ⲕⲟⲩⲣϫⲓ)?

I would leave the name, ⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ is a common Coptic name, even the rarer ⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲁ exists. Thus, I think the country should be written like this too. As the name was widely used in Coptic, we have several different spelling variants, ranging from the most common and Greek original to very Copticized forms were the ⲅ is written ⲕ. ⲁϩⲙⲉⲧ (talk) 21:12, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, that's a very common name. My point was that it's 1. not a native name of Georgia (it's Sakartvelo) and 2. most likely comes from Russian Gruzia/Persian Gorjestan (Middle Persian Wiruzan) and has nothing to do with the name ⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ. Scala Magna, on the other hand, says that "Georgian" is ⲟⲩⲕⲉⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ so we could use this Coptisized form as a kind of compromise. --ⲡⲁⲣⲇⲁ (talk) 17:26, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
