Description
English: Ocean or Haida type of canoe, on the north shore of Bella Coola River, just below the bridge. View from the east. The canoe is 22 feet long measured on gunwhale. There are four thwarts. The rear thwart is cross marked except for about an inch at each end. The next is carved. The next is plain. The front one has hole for mast. The three carved thwarts were collected by Smith for the Victoria Memorial Museum in 1920 (catalogue number VII-D-144; VII-D-146).
