ကယန်းဘာသာစကားကို ကယားပြည်နယ်၊ ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်တောင်ပိုင်းနန့် ကရင်ပြည်နယ် မြောက်ပိုင်းရို့တွင် ပြောဆို အသုံးပြုကတ်ရေ။ Shintani (၂၀၁၆) အရ မျိုးကွဲ လေးခု ဟိပြီး[3] ယင်းရို့မှာ[4]
- ကငံ ("lowland dwellers")
- ကာကောင်း ("highland dwellers")
- လဝီ ("South")
- လထာ ("North") ရို့ ဖြစ်ကတ်ရေ။
ကငံ ရေ ကယန်းဘာသာစကား တစ်ခုဖြစ်ပြီး ကာကောင်း အုပ်စုခွဲတွင် ပါဝင်ရေ။ ယင်းကို ကျေးရွာတစ်ရွာတည်းတွင်သာ ပြောဆို အသုံးပြုကတ်ရေ။
ဖယ်ခုံကယန်း ကို Manson (၂၀၁၀) တွင် မှတ်တမ်းတင်ထားရေ။ ဒီမောဆိုးကယန်း ရေ ကယားပြည်နယ်၊ ဒီမောဆိုးမြို့နယ်ဟိ ဝါဘန်းပလို့ကျေးရွာတွင် ပြောဆိုကြသည့် ကယန်းနန့် ဆင်တူရေ မူကွဲတစ်ခုဖြစ်ကြောင်း Lew (၂၀၁၈) တွင် ဖော်ပြထားရေ။[5]
