Appearance
Mearn is a bush tucker plant with English name bloodroot wer scientific name Haemodorum spicatum.[1][2] It is like a chilli or an onion.
In some references it is the origin of the name of the Noongar Minang people. Isaac Scott Nind gives the name Minanger for the Aboriginal people of Albany, which he supposes, is “probably derived from Mearn, the red root above mentioned and [the Noongar word] anger, to eat” (Nind 1831).
