Kwakoorillup, meaning: “Place of the Quokka or place of the kwokka. Geographically nidja place is il the Frankland River. Wikipedia incorrectly states that Kwakoorillup is the Noongar name for the Frankland River.
The river served as keny of the main travel routes for the Noongar peoples. Through the year, at special times, some of the karro inland tribal peoples from the surrounding Goreng, Koerang wer Wilmen groups would follow the course of the river into the Pibulmun- Wadandi lands.
