"Won"?
[edit source]Why is there often used "won"? I don't think that this is the correct word for the copulative "is", which doesn't exist in Nauruan (Nauru Grammar; P. 200, § 78 e). The use of an absolute pronoun is required. So it has to be "Yaren eiy district". I'll change that.
I noticed that this won is used in many articles... --Jamovi 18:46, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, that is because, according to Delaporte's dictionary, to be is translated as won in Nauruan. Of sure I knew this couldn't really be a good translation of the verb is though... This is actually the big problem of this wiki: All articles were written without any Nauruan grammar skills or knowledge, and hence the fact that almost no articles are longer written by non-native speakers (more articles ≈ more totally incorrect sentences). Thanks for the information! Belgian man 18:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
