Add topicRevival of WtArq ?
[edit source]Hello everyone!
I want to discuss the revival of this project, which is very dear to me. However, before we start working on this Wiktionary, there are several important points we need to address. Currently, many aspects are neither serious nor rigorous.
First and foremost is the name of our language. I believe that “جزايرية” is not how people in Algeria typically refer to their native language. Instead, “الدارجة” is the term most commonly used. In my opinion, “الدّارجة الدّزِيرِيّة” is the best way to name it.
Secondly, the script used for ARQ. We have chosen to use both Latin and Arabic scripts. To facilitate this, we created a fully reversible script. This means that if a word is input in the Latin script, it can be algorithmically converted to the Arabic script, and vice versa. This way, we only need one input for each word, allowing users to choose the script they prefer.
Thirdly, the orthography needs to be standardized. We must establish clear guidelines on writing, spelling, grammar, the creation of neologisms, and so on.
Fourthly, we need to use reliable sources and avoid copying from other Wiktionaries to artificially boost our content.
Finally, we need to approach this project with methodological rigor and a scientific mindset. The potential outcomes are significant!
For all these reasons, we have decided to create the “Academy of Algerian Darija.” Contributing to this Wiktionary without clear and precise guidelines would be futile.
So, please, if anyone wants to join this project, you are more than welcome!
