Hello everyone. As far as i know the name As-Suwis etymologically comes from the name of the plant عرقسوس (liquorice in English). No word attested for this plant in Coptic except the Greek borrowing. But as far as it's etymology is clear (sweet root) we could create an Egyptian word which we could also use for the city (like ϩⲁⲗϫⲛⲟⲩⲛⲓ). Or do you think the word "Suez" is too widespread and we should use it? ⲥⲉⲣⲕⲓ (talk) 17:45, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
