DescriptionBayer-Kreuz Leverkusen.jpg
English: Place: Leverkusen
I took this snap from the Flixbus while heading to Frankfurt, not knowing about the fame of this landmark. Bayer is a German multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, it is headquartered in Leverkusen. The Bayer Cross (between the two poles on the left) is the Bayer's logo in Leverkusen; it is the largest neon sign worldwide.
Today's Leverkusen neon sign was installed in 1958. It shows the emblem of Bayer and hangs on two 118-meter-high steel pylons. The diameter is 51 meters with a weight of 300 tons. In 2003, the Bayer Cross was overhauled.
