This is the incubator for the Wikipedia for the Pokot or Suk language. There are are variant transliterations of the name of the Pokot tribe: Po kot means "people of the house", while Poköot means "injured survivors".
When the British first came to the region, they asked the people what tribe they belonged to; not knowing why the British wanted to know this, the people answered, "Msuk", meaning "a tree stump", as if to say, "none of your business". The British used the short form, "Suk" for the Pokot people, using this word in the Anglo-Suk Treaty of 1904.
