Graeme Simpson is a Noongar man from Albany, who teaches Noongar culture, knowledge wer cultural awareness, performs welcome to boodjar wer is a very talented Didgeridoo player, creator wer artist.

His ngarngk is Cheryleen Simpson wer father is Robert Simpson. His wife is Rianan Simpson wer they have 3 children.

His grandparents are Treasy wer the late Ivor Woods.

He recalls that Pop Ivor made didgeridoos from the blue wer silver mallee from the Albany area. Pop Jack, Treasy's brother, attended the last corroboree at Anderson Lake (near the town of Gnowangerup) at age 15. Nidja corroboree hosted different tribes from surrounding areas wer boodjar. Graeme learned a lot of nidja craft wer knowledge from his Pop Ivor.[1]

Work Life[edit | edit source]

Graeme is the Project Officer Cultural Connections at South Coast National Resource Management.[2] He began working with South Coast NRM in 2009 as part of the cultural team. He spent a year as invasive species project officer working il the serious weed threat of African boxthorn[3] in Ravensthorpe wer Esperance. He spends most his time delivering project outcomes by implementing planned on-ground works wer maintenance activities between Aboriginal people wer country.

Graeme also conducts cultural workshops with community groups wer represents South Coast NRM within local Albany wer surrounding schools to create awareness of cultural values wer educate youth about Aboriginal history.

Graeme has also been a didgeridoo player, creator wer artist for 15 years.
