Wp/nys/Gnangara
Gnangara is a Perth suburb. It derives its name from Lake Gnangara which is the most southerly of the Wanneroo wetlands.
Gnangara is an Aboriginal word, the meaning of which is not known for sure, although possibly meaning 'spring' (water flows into the lake from the NW corner).[1] Alternatively, the name may derive from the Noongar word 'ngangka', which variously means: Sun, mother, or thumb.[2]
The lake surrounds were the site of a long term Noongar camp[3] as well as a Noongar community college.[4]
