वसुदेव विष्णुके अठमा अवतार कृष्ण आउ उनकर भाई बलराम आउ सुभद्राके पिता हलथिन । ऊ महान शूरसेनके पुत्र हलथिन । उनकर बहिन कुन्तीके बियाह पाण्डुसे होलै हल ।[1][2][3][4] वसुदेवेके नाम पर कृष्णके उनकर १०८ नाममे से एक नाम 'वासुदेव' (अर्थात् 'वसुदेवके पुत्र') कहल जा है ।[5] वसुदेवके जन्मके समय देवता आनक आउ दुन्दुभि बजौलन हल जेकरासे इनकर एक नाम 'आनकदुन्दुभि' एहु पड़लै । वसुदेव स्यमन्तपञ्चक क्षेत्रमे अश्वमेध यज्ञ कैलन हल । कृष्णके मृत्युसे उद्विग्न होके ई प्रभास क्षेत्रमे देह त्याग कैलन ।[6]

The story goes that Krishna was a prince of royal blood, the son of Vasudeva. He lived with Nanda, who was also a king and Kshatriya by caste. Vasudeva and Nanda were brothers When Vasudeva knew that Nanda has come to Mathura to pay the taxes of King Kansa, he went to his brother Nanda. The point that the Abhira are Kshatriyas and specifically Yaduvansi. In Harivamsa Purana, it has been said that Gopas and Yadav are generic of same lineage and they are called Gope or Yadav.
