From Wikimedia Incubator

Happy to meet you here Read3r, I think you should call some of your camarades from amazigh.nl/awar/, by the way, tarifit sounds exotic, it's funny to see how all 'l' becomes 'r'.

Also, i'd like to comment the script you are using, why don't use the phonetic notation ( ḥ, ḍ, ṣ...etc. NB:use firefox)? for each sound a letter, combining letters (as in gh, dv, ...etc.) is unsuitable for berber languages. That way, we can standarize all berber languages and unify them at the long run. For example, in kabyle we have done a lot of efforts to get rid of the local prunounciations : "bb wargaz" (we write 'n wergaz'), vava (we write 'baba'), tabburt (we write 'tawwurt'), aggur (we write 'ayyur')...etc. we also use some words from tarifit and tecelḥit (maca (but), acku (because) for example), I think it would be nice if you do that as well, of course we cannot achieve a unique berber language for now (our governments do nothing for our identity) this is why we are creating different wikipedias... when small things add up we can get a big thing. I never used that INALCO spelling, but it seems indeed better than the combined letters like someone in amazigh.nl/awar has noted. But how do you proceed them. Do i have to install them? (I didn't understand your refernce to Firefox (a webbrowser). Best regards! Read3r 08:03, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Firefox displays the letters with diacritics but not Internet Explorer, one needs to add html code so that it displays under IE, example:

If you are using IE, the letters below will won't display (you'll see squares):

  • ḥ, ḍ, ṣ

If I add some html code, it will display:

  • ḥ, ḍ, ṣ

Of course, if you're using Firefox you'll see them in both cases. This is why i'm advising you to use Firefox, if the wikipedia in taqbaylit/tarifit is created, we won't have to add the html code, but here on incubator we have to.

To install the keyboard, go here : (i'll find the link later) Toira 12:46, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have called it "spelling of INALCO", i was confused with a discussion on amazigh.nl/awar. The spelling of INALCO is a modified latin script to look as tifinagh. That is very logical. But if we have to use that script, we will have to use Tifinagh instead. (This was offtopic).

Back to the spelling. I think i should write the words in the beginning as in Tarifit. Your note that the "l" becomes changed in "r" is true. Some other sound changes are: "ll" that becomes "jj", "b" that becomes "f", unvocalized "r" that becomes ignored, "g" that becomes "y". Back to the used letters: I use firefox, and i see them indeed similar. I don't like the idea of webbrowser-depended spelling or adding of HTML to a letter to display it. Because that would be a time wasting. Furthermore, Mohammed chafik and some other scholars that study tamazight use that spelling too. Therefore, i chose to write in simpel tarifit, and thereaftere, i will see what to do to "Amazighize" it. Good luck, and best regards! Read3r 13:09, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree, tifinagh fonts are not installed with windows/linux, but the letters added by Inalco (č ḍ ğ ḥ ṣ ṭ ẓ ε γ) are displayed by all browsers, in IE you just need to add the html code, anyway, if the tarifit wikipedia is created it won't be necessary to add the html code, because it will be already integrated. I'll give you an example on the talk page of one of your articles.Toira 14:54, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the example, Toira! I noticed that the letters with a dot under them are shown as squares. But please, tell me how i would also type such letters (Take your time, it is not urgent :)). I'm now triying to spread the existence of the Tarifit test-wikipedia in Riffian fora. If some people joined the rif-wikipedia. I will discuss it with them. Else, i'll continue writing in the traditional letters. Thanks! Read3r 15:10, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A mistake[edit source]

Azul. In this page someone asked for an article on the Polish village of Kurów. Since the page belonged to someone who is working on the Kabyle wikipedia, I didn't read carefully and assumed that the required page was in the kabyle wiki. Only after finishing it I realized that it was in the tarifit wiki. I cancelled it and created a new page in kab.wiki (Kurów). Now a blank page Kurów exists in the Riffian wiki and someone should delete it. I don't know if administrators exists. So I limit myself to tell you what happened, and if you know an administrator, please let him know that such a page must be deleted. Tanemmirt. --Vermondo 13:05, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
