Karai-Karai lexemes
[edit source]Hi!
There is a discussion in Wikidata about possible deletion of some words that were contributed by User:Bakwaro and are marked as being in Karai-Karai. The words themselves may indeed be written in Karai-Karai, but the way they are organized is definitely wrong.
If you can understand what did User:Bakwaro mean to add and organize it nicely, they won't have to be deleted.
You can see the discussion at d:Wikidata:Requests for deletions#Lexeme:L1195932.
If you see that the words are indeed in Karai-Karai, but you don't understand what has to be done to fix their organization, I'll be happy to give you technical support about it.
Thank you! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 18:49, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Translation request
[edit source]Hi, could you please translate this to Karai-Karai?
- Glosa is a constructed international auxiliary language based on Interglossa (a previous draft of an auxiliary published in 1943). The first Glosa dictionary was published 1978.
- Glosa is an isolating language, which means that words never change form, no matter what function they have in the sentence, and Glosa spelling is also completely regular and phonetic.
- It takes much of its vocabulary from Greek and Latin, whose terms are international because of their widespread use in science.
- The main authors who have published in Glosa are Gary R. Miller and Vicente Costalago.

- Lancelot Thomas Hogben (9 December 1895 – 22 August 1975) was a British experimental zoologist and medical statistician. He developed the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) as a model organism for biological research in his early career. He also attacked the eugenics movement in the middle of his career, and wrote popular books on science, mathematics and language in his later career. He created an international language, Interglossa, as 'a draft of an auxiliary for a democratic world order', which became the basis for the language Glosa.

- Interglossa is a constructed language that British scientist Lancelot Hogben created in 1943. His goal was to make it easier for people from different countries to communicate, especially in scientific and technical fields. Hogben based the vocabulary mainly on international scientific terms with Greek and Latin roots. He also designed the language with a very simple, isolating grammar—meaning no verb endings or complicated rules. Interglossa was published only as a draft and was not meant to be the final version of an international auxiliary language. In the 1970s, Ron Clark and Wendy Ashby revised and expanded the language. They made changes to the vocabulary and renamed it Glosa, which is considered the modern descendant of Interglossa.

- Ronald Charles Clark (28 April 1914 – 12 June 2000) was a British biologist, linguist, and educator best known for his role in developing and promoting Glosa, a simplified international auxiliary language derived from Interglossa, originally created by Lancelot Hogben. Clark’s later collaboration with Wendy Ashby was central to transforming Glosa into a practical and accessible tool for international communication and education.
- Vicente Costalago is a philologist, writer, poet, translator, researcher, and author in various constructed languages. He was born in Spain and studied modern languages at the Autonomous University of Madrid, and Translation and Interpretation at the University of Manchester. He has written and published texts in several constructed languages, mainly in Interlingue, Interlingua, Lingua Franca Nova and Glosa; and minority languages, like Extremaduran.
