Welcome to Wikimedia Incubator! At the right there are some important links, and here are some tips and info:

  • If you haven't created a user page yet, please create one with for example Babel templates on it.
  • You can select your interface language in your preferences.
  • If you make articles, templates or categories, don't forget to add a prefix!
  • If your knowledge of English is good, you can help with translating pages to other languages you know, so more people can understand them!
  • If you want to translate the interface, please go to Translatewiki.net and follow their instructions.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them on Incubator:Community Portal.

Saho Wikipedia

[edit source]

Hi! I've seen that you have started a Wikipedia in Saho. I don't speak the language, but I can help you creating simple templates and giving you pieces of advice on what to translate and what to do, if you want. Caro de Segeda (talk) 20:49, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for the offer @Caro de Segeda. Happy to accept, so please do. I am committed to mobile the Saaho community globally and arrive a minimum 1,000 pages asap. I will do some sit-on with the communities, mainly in the diaspora since from the country, there is a huge gap created the digital divide and people have possibility to connect, I wanna fill that gap through the Diasporic societies of Saaho Speaking. Could you please translate this?
  • List of articles all languages should have
  • Biography
  • Philosophy and psychology
  • Religion
  • World view and religion
  • Social sciences
  • Language and literature
  • Science
  • Technology
  • Arts and recreation
  • History and geography
I can also create simple templates for countries and people. Caro de Segeda (talk) 10:23, 2 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please do. Jmgurey (talk) 13:53, 2 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Other things you need to do in order to get a Wikipedia in Saho:
  1. Request it: I took the liberty of creating a proposal, but you need to specify it here.
  2. Get the language to TranslateWiki (I don't know how to do that, you will need to talk to somebody else regarding that)
  3. Get the most important messages translated
  4. Gather a community of at least three people that speak the language and create articles during a certain period of time.

I am working on this. I have the people to join with me in creation, but wanted to submit first the Request. I see you already did. There are some changes we need on the request, so I will be editing tonight when get home. Jmgurey (talk) 13:53, 2 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Done and put on the Main_Page. Dr Jama Musse Jama (talk) 01:58, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, how would you say "List of articles all languages should have"? Caro de Segeda (talk) 10:09, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Umbuka luqhaat yaallo missil tuumar hi wararta.
Sorry, @Caro de Segeda, I missed this question. Dr Jama Musse Jama (talk) 11:45, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please take a look hereto see how to create section titles. They have to be == Section name == Caro de Segeda (talk) 10:10, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much Carlo. Yeah. In the past, I wrote quite a lot and formatted in Somali Wikipedia and have these experiences, and I also trained quite a lot Somali Wiki editors in the past (talking about almost two decades ago: my best years from 2008-2011). My aim here was just to put the data for now and contents, and then in the meantime train the Saho community members on how to format better. But I really appreciate your proactive support. Dr Jama Musse Jama (talk) 10:29, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok, in that case you don't need any help xd. I just wanted to ask you then whether you could please translate a few articles for me to Saho? Caro de Segeda (talk) 10:33, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, I really need: I am old and it is quite a long time I was not active passonate Wikipedean as I used to be in those years, so please do not abandon too early the ship. For example Templates were not even developed when I used to write things. So please continue supporting by revising, changing, improving and yes, suggesting me as well. I just wanted to tell you a bit of history and where I am coming from. Dr Jama Musse Jama (talk) 10:39, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, of course, I am here for that. Please send, and I will be happy to do. I would appreciate in return if you structure with me the whole Wiki, and and also prepare the very much needed parts for at least the Main Page for Saho. Dr Jama Musse Jama (talk) 10:43, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
My suggestion, the same I make to every single person starting a new Wikipedia is: keep it simple. If you see most templates in different Wikipedias they have a lot of parameters, in my case, I create simple templates like the this one here (used here) for countries or this one. They have the very basic coding, and the most important information to support the text appearing in the article. For me text is the most important thing, because for most languages, Wikipedia is the only place on the Internet with text written in those particular languages.
For the Wikipedia in Fala (another wiki here at the Incubator in which I am the main Wikipedian because I do speak that language), I copied the structure from the Wikipedia in Simple English, because it is very basic and I believe it helps new users to understand the category organisation faster. You can also see the Main Page, how it looks, very simple as well.
Could you please translate this to Saho? (These are the only texts I am going to ask you to translate just because I am interested in them, the rest will be realted to Saho).
  • Lancelot Thomas Hogben FRS FRSE (9 December 1895 – 22 August 1975) was a British experimental zoologist and medical statistician. He developed the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) as a model organism for biological research in his early career. He also attacked the eugenics movement in the middle of his career, and wrote popular books on science, mathematics and language in his later career. He created an international language, Interglossa, as 'a draft of an auxiliary for a democratic world order'.
  • Interglossa is a simple, made-up language created in 1943 by British scientist Lancelot Hogben. He designed it to help people from different countries communicate easily, especially in science and technology. Later, in the 1970s, Interglossa was updated and renamed Glosa by Ron Clark and Wendy Ashby. They added more words and made some changes to improve it.
  • Ronald Charles Clark (28 April 1914 – 12 June 2000) was a British biologist, linguist, and educator best known for his role in developing and promoting Glosa, a simplified international auxiliary language derived from Interglossa, originally created by Lancelot Hogben. Clark’s later collaboration with Wendy Ashby was central to transforming Glosa into a practical and accessible tool for international communication and education.
  • Wendy Ashby (1950-2015) was a British linguist and co-developer of the constructed international auxiliary language Glosa, which she developed in collaboration with Ron Clark. She is recognized for her contributions to simplified, culturally neutral communication systems and her efforts to promote Glosa as an educational and international medium.
  • Vicente Costalago is a Spanish philologist, writer, poet, translator, and researcher, known for his extensive literary and scholarly work in several constructed languages (Occidental, Interlingua, Lingua Franca Nova and Glosa) as well as in minority languages, particularly Extremaduran. His work includes original fiction, poetry, translations, textbooks, dictionaries, and encyclopedic projects, both online and in print.
  • Glosa is an artificial auxiliary language designed for international communication. It has several characteristics:
    • Its pronunciation is regular, and its spelling is phonetic.
    • Its structure is very simple and based on meaning.
    • It is an analytical language with no inflections or genders. A small number of words handle grammatical relations.
    • Above all, Glosa is neutral and truly international due to the use of Latin and Greek roots, which are used in the international scientific vocabulary.
