- By the way, how can I also edit the Main Page, in case I accidentally made a mistake or want to add something? Chixiijak (talk) 04:15, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- To undo an edit, I advise you to do it on your computer such as a desktop computer or laptop. Go to the article that you made a mistake on, click on "View History", then click "Undo" as shown below:
- The renovated page can now be found Here. What do you think of it? --DaveZ123 (talk) 11:24, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

In that screenshot, the last edit was made by User:Umar Asiya, so if for example it was vandalism, then it is possible to click "Undo" which would undo the last edit that he made.
- However if it is necessary to revert to an earlier version, for example on that screenshot, if the last three edits were vandalism and you need to revert to the last version at "23:14 13 May 2025", then you would click on "23:14 13 May 2025", then click "Edit Source", then click "Publish Changes". --DaveZ123 (talk) 10:15, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- If the last edit was not vandalism but someone simply made a typing/spelling mistake that could be easily corrected, then you can click on "Edit" (for visual editing) or "Edit Source" (for editing wikitext) and make the necessary corrections. --DaveZ123 (talk) 10:15, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

Article translation
[edit source]Hi Chixiijak,
Could you kindly help translate these three articles into Shughni.
Article 1
[edit source]- Christianity is a religion that emerged from Judaism and spread beyond Palestine starting in the 4th decade of the first century A.D. Its followers are called Christians. They believe that Jesus is the Son of God – the Logos (λόγος) incarnation – who was sent by God to preach and teach the Gospel (the Good News) to the world and rose from the dead after his crucifixion, whose coming as the messiah (The title "Messiah" comes from the Hebrew word מָשִׁיחַ (māšiáħ) meaning "anointed one") was prophesied in the Old Testament and recorded in the writings of the New Testament. The vast majority of Christians believe in one God (Monotheism) as a Trinity, that is, a unity of essence consisting of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is the world's largest and most widespread religion with over 2.3 billion followers, comprising around 28.8% of the world population. Its adherents, known as Christians, are estimated to make up a majority of the population in 120 countries and territories.
Article 2
[edit source]- "Sheep" or "domestic sheep" (Latin: Ovis aries) are a domesticated mammal typically kept as livestock. Numbering a little over one billion, domestic sheep are also the most numerous species of sheep. A sheep's wool is the most widely used animal fiber, and is usually harvested by shearing. In 2006 there are 1,229 different breeds of sheep. Sheep are herbivorous. Most breeds prefer to graze on grass.
Article 3
[edit source]- The "Snow Leopard" (Panthera uncia) is a species of large cat and is native to the mountain ranges of Central and Bīrnenǰ Asā. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List because the global population is estimated to number fewer than 10,000 mature individuals. It inhabits alpine and subalpine zones at elevations of 3,000–4,500 metres, ranging from eastern Awɣůnistůn, the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau to southern Siberia, Muɣulistůn and western Xitoy.
Colors
[edit source]Hi Chixiijak,
Can you please translate these words into Shughni:

- Orange =
- Yellow =
- Purple =
- Brown =
- Violet =
- White =
- Black =
- Grey =
- Pink =

- A "Rainbow" is an arc of colour in the sky that can be seen when the sun shines through falling rain. The pattern of colours starts with red on the outside and changes through orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet on the inside. A rainbow is created when white light is bent while entering a droplet of water, split into separate colours, and reflected back. A rainbow is actually round like a circle. On the ground, the bottom part is hidden, but in the sky it can be seen as a circle around the point opposite the Sun. Rainbows often appear after storms, and are popular symbols for peace in many cultures. =

Translation of article on Shughni people
[edit source]Hi Chixiijak, Thank you for the translations.
For "Good Article", I would like to use this article:
- "The Xuǧnůni people are an ethnic group of Pamiris, who reside in the Pamir Mountains of the Badakhshan region of Central Asia. They mostly live in the country of Toǰikistůn, while a minority lives in Awɣůnistůn, Pokistůn, and Xitoy. They speak the Xuɣ̌nůni ziv, which belongs to the eastern branch of the Iranian group of the Indu-Awrupoyi language family."
- Can you help translate that article, thanks. --DaveZ123 (talk) 09:09, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi DaveZ123,
- Of course:
- Xuɣ̌nůnienen Pomerien eθniki girūndīr ar Pomer Kūen Badaxx̌ůn rawax̌andīr Āsa Naxtindīr zindagi ca kinen. Dāδ bex̌di ar Toǰikistůn zindagi kinen, ʒuldi ɣal ar Awɣůnistůn, Pokistůn, at Xitoy zindagi kinen. Dāδ Xuɣ̌nůni ziv ti lůven, ar xīrpal xêx̌čakandīr Īndu-Ewropi ziven parxax̌andīr ca deδd.
- You may also notice that some proper names are called differently here than in the articles about them. I'll ask the Wikipedia administrators later, to grant me moderator rights so that I can change names and remove duplicates. Chixiijak (talk) 03:13, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! I will add it onto "Good Article". In the future there can multiple "Good Articles" which can then be displayed randomly on a rotational basis. --DaveZ123 (talk) 10:25, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, only moderators can delete pages, however you can move pages to a more correct name without needing moderator rights.
- Thank you! I will add it onto "Good Article". In the future there can multiple "Good Articles" which can then be displayed randomly on a rotational basis. --DaveZ123 (talk) 10:25, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
For example in the screenshot below, you go to the article that you wish to rename, then click on "Tools" --> "Move" and then move it to the new name. --DaveZ123 (talk) 10:37, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- That makes it much easier, thanks! Chixiijak (talk) 16:30, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

- If the old name was completely wrong then the old name can be deleted after the article is moved to the new name.
- However if the old name is one of several possible alternate shughni names for the article, then the page redirect can be retained without deleting it. --DaveZ123 (talk) 10:37, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

Translations
[edit source]Hello, could I ask you what sources you use to translate proper names, or are these your own translations? Rumsor (talk) 14:39, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Rumsor, not every proper name would have a source. How many Shughni people know about "saskatchewan"? If it is a name that shughni people historically are unaware of, then there is no "official" name for it. --DaveZ123 (talk) 15:32, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Essentially the same as @DaveZ123 said. I'm simply "Shugnanizing" proper names, respecting any phonetic peculiarities of the Shughni language. But it's worth noting that some proper names, like "Maskow" for Moscow and "Qazoqistůn" for Kazakhstan, are already used by native speakers because they're familiar with them. Chixiijak (talk) 04:31, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
- For some proper names, you can use: https://pamiri.online/dict/search/ China- Хитой, Чӣн; Рӯсийā - Russia, etc. Rumsor (talk) 04:40, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
- I know that site, it’s a great resource! I’ve used it quite a few times. Chixiijak (talk) 04:51, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
