Salam Musa!

I'm Adil from Baku.

First of all thank you very much for your article, I've learned a lot from it.

I'd like to suggest some corrections for Nothern Azeri words in the mini-dictionary you presented:

  • intersection - dörd yol, yol kəsişməsi ("tin" means corner)
  • number - nömrə
  • pen - qələm ("ruşka" is widely used in spoken language but doesn't exist in literary language)
  • purse (bag ?) - çanta ("sumka" - similar to "ruşka")
  • general - general (polkovnik means colonel)
  • helicopter - the word helikopter is being used now along with vertolyot so it can also be added.
  • nurse - şəfqət bacısı + tibb bacısı
  • break - tənəffüs is used in parallel with fasilə (specially in the school context)
  • salary - the word məvacib is used in parallel with maaş.
  • electricity - elektrik is correct but işıq is not literary, although widely used in everyday language.

The word "veterinarian" is mistyped.

Additionally, although words stol, stul, skamya, velosiped, qəzet, qalstuk, diktor came to Azeri through Russian, they are not Russian words by origin.

With my best wishes,

Adil

Scarcely, Developer. Yes, "стул / stul" came from Old Germanic; and "скамья / skamya" is from Greek language. But "стол / stol" is of Slavic (Russian) origin. --Tamara Ustinova (talk) 19:43, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't tell about non-Slavic origin of "velosiped", "qəzet", "qalstuk", "diktor" - it's obvious. In any case, it doesn't matter what's the history of a word; importantly that it's loanwords exactly from Russian. --Tamara Ustinova (talk) 19:50, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What's for word of "skripka" [violin]? This is a Russian loanword. --Tamara Ustinova (talk) 09:43, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And also "pulemyot" [-> пулемёт -> machine gun], "minomyot" [-> миномёт -> mortar], "çaynik" [-> чайник -> teapot]. --Tamara Ustinova (talk) 09:52, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We have not Northern or Southern Azerbaijan Language just have Azerbaijanian Language![edit source]

Salma Əziz məqalə müəllifi. Azərbaycan məsələsində bu ikili dil anlayışını sadəcə bütöv bir cöğrafini tikələmək istiyən bir düşüncə ortaya çıxara bilər. Dilçilikdə də onun heç yeri yoxdur. Əlbətdə sizin çəkdiyiniz fikiri alqışlayıram və zəhmətinizə dəyər verirəm amma bu məsələ çox ciddi bir mövzudur.
