What I created[edit | edit source]

The first round of Annual Plan Grant (APG) deliberations for 2015–16 saw the FDC recommend the distribution of $3.8 million to 11 independent affiliate organizations. To help them in their deliberations, I summarized information about the applying organizations into shared documents and spreadsheets to inform the 4-day meeting of FDC members during their time together in San Francisco. This round was more focused on metrics rather than hard data.

-Pulled financial data into spreadsheets -past and future -computations -pulled non-financial info like FTE’s -complemented the information by taking others from talk pages and confidential emails -created key metrics sheet -Applied exchange rate conversions to make comparison between the organizations uniform and organized -plotted charts to show visual representations of how this rounds applications differed from previous applications for each organization -

I pulled financial data from the proposal forms of each organization (located at [1]) into separate spreadsheet documents along with information about each organization’s staffing arrangement.

data from APG 2015-2015 first round of applications on Meta that assisted the FDC and WMF staff make informed decisions about funds that are to be allocated to these entities.

I later created a key metrics sheet that summarized the information about the 11 entities on one sheet making it easier to see (and make comparisons) between the entities.

Difficulty level[edit | edit source]

Once I got started, it was easy to notice a trend on what was going on. However, this trend was not necessarily uniform, this made it difficult for me to build a tool that that could pull that data for me.
