Τerminology[edit source]

The modern Greek terms for comics are Εικονογραφία (iconography) and Κωμικογραφία (comicography). Obviously, they are inappropriate. The consensus in the Anglophone bibliography is that one of the next two terms should be used: Graphic Storytelling or Sequential Art. Among those two, I decided to translate the first. My first translation was Ῥηματοεικονογραφία, which is grammatically accurate but too long of a word, so with a tiny "sleight of hand" I changed ῥηματο- (ῥῆμα "word, utterance") to ῥημο-, just like αἷμα also had the allomorph αἱμο- in ancient Greek derivatives (-βόρος, -ρραγία, -σταγής), besides αἱματο-. I truly believe that this translation is the most accurate one-word-term that can exist for the 9th Art and that it should be proposed to the Latin Vicipaedia, as well (as Rhemiconographia). On second thought, I suggest we stick to the already established term Εἰκοναφήγησις (Alexandra Mylona, Grafima Publications, 2013). --Omnipaedista (talk) 09:58, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
