Description North Wales. Colwyn Bay Mountain Zoo. In the beginning there was the Przewalski Wild Horse and from this came the modern horse as we know it. The Przewalski is extinct in the wild being preserved only by zoo programmes. As an experiment, three have been put to roam parts of Snowdonia since they crop less closely than sheep and so give the trees that once were so abundant in the Snowdonia landscape (and now are almost a rarity) a chance to grow.
