Portrait de l'artiste au Christ jaune Oeuvre de Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) 1890-1891 Huile sur toile Cet autoportrait a été réalisé avant le départ de l'artiste à Tahiti, ruiné, il vit seul car sa famille est restée au Danemark. L'oeuvre associe à la droite de Gauguin un Christ jaune qui symbolise son propre destin, et à sa gauche un pot anthropomorphe en grès, conçu récemment par lui, qui symbolise le Gauguin sauvage et maudit.

(on consulte avec intérêt la notice de l'oeuvre dans la base de données du musée d'Orsay pour avoir des détails mais on remarque aussi la photo indigne d'un musée national associée à la notice, comme c'est malheureusement souvent le cas.)
