Summary
DescriptionFernao Lopes.jpg
English: Image of a chronicler in the upper right corner of the "Panel of the Archishop" (fourth panel of the St. Vincent panels, usually dated c.1470 and atributed to painter Nuno Gonçalves. Identification of the chronicler is uncertain and disputed. Most commonly believed to be Gomes Eanes de Zurara (Figueiredo 1910; Markl, 1988; MNAA), although a recent controversial book (Almeida and Albuquerque, 2000) disputes the Zurara identification, dates the panels 1445 and identifies this figure instead as his predecessor Fernão Lopes.
