Summary

Description Mahesamurti is the most popular carving in the Elephanta caves complex. It is 18 feet high, and depicts fully manifest form of Lord Siva. To our left is the face of Bhairava - face of destruction, and to the right is the feminine face of Siva called Vamadeva. The left hand holds a lotus and the right is damaged.
