Test Wiki is up. I don't have time to organize everything and stuff right now. I will whenever I can, though.--Fox Mccloud 02:02, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Maybe, some parallel latin texts and vocabulary should be provided? It will be easier for people... --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 03:00, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Do you mean something like this: دولت عليه عثمانيه (Devlet-i Âliye-i Osmâniyye)? I'm leaning towards no. I was, however, thinking of another page that has some information about Ottoman in English, Modern Turkish, and other languages. Maybe some simple Ottoman lessons too.--Fox Mccloud 20:40, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Ok, everything is organized like I promised. Some things need translation, though. I took the design from the Middle English test. Like Middle English it is made up of articles in a template box. Most of those articles are Ottoman related.--Fox Mccloud 22:07, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

This wiki must bu in two alfabet. İn latin ande in Arab. And code of the this wiki is osm.--Absar 10:20, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Agree. This is reality. I understand that ancient Turks wrote in arabic. Here in Siberia they wrote in Gorturk alfabet as well. But this is reality that modern Turks easier understand latin script, and we should take this into account. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 10:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

On the subject of Latin alphabet, I made a reply to the user Absar on the main proposal page. Also, according to English Wikipedia, the code is ota. Also, please contribute to this test wiki, because I belive a healthy test wiki could gain more support for full Wikipedia status.--Fox Mccloud 16:32, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

I want to contribute, but I should learn Ottoman language first) Maybe common learnbook would be good beginning? In fact, Orhon wiki now has only vocabulary and learnbook, and both of them very primitive --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 01:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I mentioned that above. I agree there should be Ottoman lessons in English and Turkish. I searched on Google but could find no resources. [1] may be a resource, but only the home page is in English.--Fox Mccloud 15:15, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

In fact, the same is with the Old Turkic, we have some scientific description of this, but no living learnbooks, no living articles etc. It seems very good for me to revive the old classical language of ancient Siberian Turks, but I need to begin with the dictionary first..--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 15:23, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, you would think someone would set up a learn basic Ottoman site. Good luck on reviving your language. It seems you are getting a lot of support.--Fox Mccloud 16:14, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I support both Alpahet. Ruzgar

Numerals [edit]

In Ottoman Turkish they use different Numerals (see:[2] and [3]) I have a question. Are they the same as western numerals but only with symbols replaced? For example, would 25,000 be ۲٥٠٠٠ and would 1299 be ۱۲٩٩?--Fox Mccloud 16:33, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Tarih has explained it to me in my talk page that Eastern numerals are the same but only different symbols.

  • ٠ 0 (sıfır)
  • ۱ 1 (bir)
  • ۲ 2 (iki)
  • ٣ 3 (üç)
  • ٤ 4 (dört)
  • ٥ 5 (beş)
  • ٦ 6 (altı)
  • ٧ 7 (yedi)
  • ٨ 8 (sekiz)
  • ٩ 9 (dokuz)
  • ۱٠ 10 (on)

Thats the list. Just copy and paste if you need to use them. Please use these numerals instead of Western numerals.--Fox Mccloud 22:33, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

We should note that, besides not using Western numerals, we also can't use Western (i.e., Gregorian calendar) dates when writing in Ottoman Turkish. For instance, today's date is 19 September 2006 ... were we to write this in an article for some reason, we should write: ۱٤۲٧ شعبان ۲٦ (i.e., 26 Sha`baan 1427). Here's a date converter that can be used. —Saposcat 06:16, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree the eastern calender should be used instead. Thanks for the link.--Fox Mccloud 15:44, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Assalamu Aleykum

Bize bir oylamada yardım edebilir misiniz? http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Proposals_for_closing_projects#Close_.22Siberian.22_wikipedia Bu oylama Sıbırca hakkında. Eski Sıbır Türklerin Eski Slavlarla ilişkiler yeni bir dilin ortaya çıkması için sebep olmuş. Ruslar bu dilin kullanmasını yasak etmek istiyorlar, bu dilde yazmış Wikipedia'nı kapamak istiyorlar. Amma şu Wikipedia islam hakkında güzel bilgiler veriyor, güzel yazılar içine alıyor. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 12:19, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Recent changes to the main page [edit]

I find the last changes by User:3210 on the first page of Ottoman Wikipediya resembling vandalism on the first page. The tilte دانشنامه Danişname already discussed and are manly new Farsi word. Farsi Language names proposed and implemented by this user who assumes Ottoman language was the same as Farsi in 21st centuary! I was more shocked when find that he has presented himself as a candidate for Admin ! Mehrdad 17:58, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

ﯓ harfi [edit]

Dear friends! I practically don't know lisan-ı Osmânî, but still I want to make a little comment. You use kef ﻙ instead of nef ﯓ. Maybe in reall spelling practice during the Ottoman epoch they did so, but this usage is rather uncomfortable for modern readers. Espesially for those, who do not know the language well (e.g. me :) ) May be it will be better to use nef? Alessandro 18:37, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Dear friend, I am a history teacher in Istanbul. I have a lot of orginal Ottoman language books. they usually use ﻙ harfi. Some of them use ﯓ harfi but it isn't widespread. If a person know lisan-ı Osmânî he can undertand easily--Tarih 21:42, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

If you think it will be better, let it be so. I asked about ﯓ, because in Russian wiki we have similar situation with the letter ё. 95% of books, newspapers and websites in Russia use е instead of ё. But in spite of this fact in Russian wiki we use ё everywhere. Alessandro 10:45, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

--Joseph 20:04, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Anasâhife [edit]

Lütfen ana sâhifedeki Yeni Türkçe metinleri kaldırın. Yalnız Osmanlı Türkçesi yazılar olsun. Böyle Osmanlıca Viki olmaz.

Proje [edit]

Osmanlı Türkçesi Vikipedi projesi ne durumda? Açılacak mı?--Oğuzhan 22:58, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
